OU Wrestling Unveils 2023-24 Schedule

NORMAN – University of Oklahoma first-year head wrestling coach Roger Kish announced the Sooners’ 2023-24 schedule Wednesday.

The 14-event regular season slate is highlighted by five home duals vs. Big 12 opponents, including a Dec. 10 showdown with Bedlam rival Oklahoma State in Norman.

The Sooners open on Nov. 1 with the Crimson and Cream Dual at historic McCasland Field House, which will be home to all of OU’s home duals in the 2023-24 season for the 96th year.

The Kish era officially debuts with a dual on Nov. 9 at Central Michigan, followed by the Michigan State Open on Nov. 11. The season-opening road swing continues on Nov. 17 at Little Rock.

Oklahoma competes for the first time at home on Nov. 19 when North Dakota State comes to Norman.

The Sooners then travel to defending Big 12 champion Missouri on Dec. 1, followed by a trip to Morgantown, W.Va., on Dec. 3 for a dual at West Virginia.

Bedlam returns to Norman on Dec. 10 in OU’s last dual of the 2023 calendar year.

A three-event slate awaits Oklahoma after Bedlam, as the Sooners travel to Reno, Nev., for the Reno Tournament of Champions on Dec. 17. OU opens the new year at the Southern Scuffle in Chattanooga, Tenn., on Jan. 1-2, followed by the Virginia Duals in Hampton, Va., on Jan. 12-13.

The Sooners then begin a three-dual homestand as Iowa State (Jan. 26), Northern Iowa (Jan. 27) and South Dakota State (Feb. 9) visit McCasland Field House for duals. OU closes the regular season in Stillwater with round two of Bedlam on Feb. 18 in Gallagher-Iba Arena.

The Big 12 Championships, which will be held March 9-10, return to Tulsa, Okla., and the BOK Center for the eighth consecutive season.

The 2024 NCAA Championships, slated for March 22-24, will be held at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Mo.

Oklahoma is slated at No. 13 in the preseason InterMat rankings, powered by a ranked wrestler in every weight class. Stephen Buchanan, a transfer from Wyoming, is No. 2 in the 197 weight class, as the All-American seeks his first national championship and OU’s first individual championship since 2015.

Times and television designations for all duals will be determined closer to the season.
