About Memories from the Mat

OWrestle is excited to announce their collaboration with Mark Kirk on his next project.  And it’s a big one!  In his latest effort to document the history of this great sport, Mark is in the beginning stages of interviewing former wrestlers about their memories on the mat and what they learned from wrestling.

Mark wants to talk to all former wrestlers who want to participate in this project.

The short interviews consist of six basic questions and will give the participants a chance to tell about their wrestling experiences.

Please volunteer to be part of this historic project so that family, friends, and wrestling fans can hear directly from the wrestlers and why they loved the sport of wrestling.

The basic interview questions include:

  1. When did you start wrestling and who/what got you started?
  2. Who were your main mentors/influences in wrestling?
  3. What did you like the most about wrestling?
  4. What did you like the least about wrestling?
  5. What is a favorite memory you have about wrestling?
  6. What did you take /learn from wrestling that had in impact on you as an adult.

We are also excited to announce that Clay Spicer (one of the seven state champions on Bristow’s historic 2000 state championship team) has generously offered to donate some equipment to make the interviews better and more professional.  Thank you, Clay!

Mark is at numerous wrestling events throughout the year.  Please help this project grow, by asking to be interviewed if you see him at a tournament.

Mark has already gone to a few of wrestling Alumni Nights this season and although dual season is winding down, please be sure to contact him next season if you host an alumni night.

Work is being done to conduct interviews online, but at the moment, Mark is focusing on in-person interviews.

Listed below is a form that you can fill out to show your interest in participating in the project.
