11 Oklahoma (4-1)
- Missouri over Oklahoma (30-12)
- Oklahoma over West Virginia (21-19)
Going 1-1 on the weekend probably wasn’t the plan, but all in all a solid time. Taking on Missouri on the road was a tough matchup and there was an upset, but the team did a good job of not giving up more. Koelzer even got a small upset himself to make it even. West Virginia was a wild one that saw the team overcome an injury to Schwartz and Carlson getting pinned. West Virginia is a team that looks like they could surprise some teams, and facing them two days after Missouri was no small task. Getting the win and some ranked wins individually shows that this Sooner team has potential to be more consistent than recent years. The team now has a couple days off before the first Bedlam of the year at home.
125lbs: Conrad Hendricksen
- Mizzou: #13 Noah Surtin Maj. Conrad Hendricksen (10-1)
- West Virginia: Conrad Hendricksen Dec. #26 Jett Strickenberger (6-4)
Hendriksen was doing a good job of keeping it close against a top 15 opponent in Surtin, but some late nearfall pushed it over the edge. He bounced back with his first ranked win of the season over Jett Strickenberger. In that match Hendricksen controlled the center of the mat, the pace, and just overall outwrestled the Mountaineer. It wasn’t a dominant match, but Hendricksen showed his grit and skill that should keep him in matches and potentially get him climbing the rankings in his first year.
133lbs: #33 Jace Koelzer
- Mizzou: #33 Jace Koelzer Dec. #32 Zeke Seltzer (4-1)
- West Virginia: #33 Jace Koelzer Maj. Davin Rhoads (12-4)
Koelzer had one of the best weekends with a 2-0 performance, including a ranked upset. Koelzer wrestled tough and scored the matches only takedown against the Mizzou freshman. He kept the offense going against Rhoads…
