Nine Oklahoma wrestlers jump started their season over the weekend by earning All-American honors at the ultra-tough Super 32 Challenge.  Taking place in Greensboro, NC, 32 Oklahoma high school wrestlers were part of the over 2200 high school entries. Past champions of this prestigious tournament include David Taylor, Kyle Dake, Spencer Lee, and 26 other future NCAA champions.

On the boys side, Ignacio Villasenor and Aydan Thomas both placed 5th, with Turner Ross placing 6th and Beau Hickman and Ethan Teague earning 8th place finishes.  The girls tournament was a freestyle tournament, with Taylor Ellis Hishaw and Kinslee Collier placing 6th and Alexandria Skidmore and Emery Turner placing 8th.

Stillwater’s 2X state champion Aydan Thomas had an impressive tournament, winning eight matches, to earn a 5th place finish at 120 lbs.  Included in the wins for the 16th seed Thomas, were wins over 2X Texas state champion Michael Ruiz , 7th seed Brock Rothermel (PA) and then finishing with bang, in earning a come from behind 7-5 win over number two seed Gauge Botero (PA).  Thomas trailed late in the match when he escaped and scored the winning takedown to earn the big win.

Ignacio Villasenor followed up his impressive win in the recent Who’s #1 with a 5th place finish at 113 lbs.  Villasenor opened the tournament with five straight wins, including two tech falls and a major decision win.  Villasenor dropped his next two, but rebounded to take a 13-2 major decision win over Dunia Sibomana (NY) to earn the 5th place finish.  Villasenor, a Colorado state champion last year, will be competing at Stillwater this year.
