Defending the Streak: #3 Oklahoma State Aims to Keep Undefeated Season Alive Against #9 Mizzou

Watch Live: FloWrestling, February 4th @1PM CT

OK State will be looking to stay undefeated in one of their biggest tests this season. Missouri is coming off an upset loss to Cornell, but has spent most of this season in the top five. Led by two-time champ Keegan O’Toole, they have all ten wrestlers ranked to match up with the Cowboys. There are big tests for Teague Travis, Izzak Olejnik, Brayden Thompson, Luke Surber, and Konner Doucet as they take on All-Americans. With Iowa losing to Michigan, the #2 spot and the top team in the Big 12 is open for the Cowboys here. Almost every match in this dual is a tossup, so any final dual score could essentially be flipped in what could be dual of the year.

125lbs: #20 Troy Spratley (16-4) vs #7 Noah Surtin (12-1)

Coming off a big win over Richie Figueroa, Spratley will be looking to continue his winning streak against Surtin. As a true freshman he wrestled Surtin at the Southern Scuffle, getting pinned in the third period while down 5-2. Surtin is excellent from the top position and has a number of big moves to his game, coming off a pin from a mixer over Brett Ungar. Spratley has looked good at getting to legs, and with his quickness off the whistle could get out from bottom quick. 125 is crazy and a Spratley win would just add to the chaos. If he gets the first takedown I think he can take this one, but Surtin’s ability to turn on top has been a game changer for him this season so I’ll take him by a decision.

Prediction: Surtin Dec. Spratley (OKST 0 MIZ 3)

133lbs: #3 Daton Fix (9-0) vs #22 Kade Moore (10-3)

Last week Moore was up 7-2 on returning champ Vito Arujau before dropping a 10-9 match with riding time late. Moore has a unique feel, with strong hips and unique awareness in scrambles. Earlier this year he pinned All-American Sam Latona and has a continuously growing highlight reel this season. Fix is coming off a tight win over Chlebove, but Moore’s wide open style could give Fix an opportunity to score big points if he puts him on his back. I’ll take Fix getting the…
