The dual opened up at 125 with Oklahoma State’s Troy Spratley taking on North Carolina State’s Vincent Robinson. Robinson got an early takedown and took a 3-1 lead into the second period. Spratley got a quick escape in the second and made it 3-2 going into the third. After a quick escape for Robinson in the third, Spratley got in deep on a shot. After some scrambling, it looked like Spratley would finish the shot before he found himself getting a neutral danger zone count and eventually giving up a taken down and falling 7-3.

It was all Cowboys after that

Cael Hughes had the match of the night for the Cowboys at 133. Taking on #7 ranked Kai Orine, the match was scoreless going into the second period when Hughes got a full-period ride. Hughes started the third on bottom. When Orine went for a turn, Hughes got a reversal putting Orine on his back and getting a fall to give OSU a 6-3 lead. The crowd went nuts!

Tagen Jamison followed that up with a dominant 22-5 tech fall grabbing the final takedown in the last three seconds of the match and Carter Young methodically worked his way to a 5-2 decision over Koy Buesgens at 149.

Caleb Fish picked up the first takedown against Ed Scott and was out to a 4-2 lead in the third period before getting taken down and going down 5-4 with under a minute left in the third. Fish got an escape to tie things up, then a takedown and back points with just seconds remaining to win the match 12-5.

After Intermission, Cameron Amine started things back up with a 6-2 decision over Derek Fields. At 174, NC State’s Matt Singleton opened things up with the first takedown, but Dean Hamiti responded with an escape and takedown of his own to end the first with a 4-3 lead. He picked up another escape and later a takedown to close out the match 8-4. There was a little extracurricular activity with Singleton after the match, which the crowd really didn’t like, but ultimately both wrestlers eventually went their separate ways.

Hamiti’s win locked up the dual, but Dustin Plott had a tough one with Dylan Fishback remaining. After a second-period rideout, the first points in the match came with an escape in the third. He closed out the match with a buzzer-beating takedown to get a 5-0 win with riding time. Luke Surber picked up four takedowns and a turn to get a 17-2 tech fall at 197 and Wyatt Hendrickson had some struggles from bottom, but ultimately finished with a 10-4 decision over #4 Issac Trumble giving Oklahoma State a 34-3 dual win.
