Rin Sakamoto Commits to Oklahoma State

Some unique recruiting news for Oklahoma State as Japanese 61 KG Junior World Team Member, Rin Sakamoto announced via Instagram he’s committed to Oklahoma State.

Sakamoto’s caption reads,

“I decided to commit to wrestling at Oklahoma State University. I would like to thank OSU Wrestling for giving me this opportunity. #gopokes”

Sakomoto was a National Team Member for Japan in 2023, winning two matches at the World Championships in Amman, Jordan, before falling in the quarterfinals.

Oklahoma State has quite the history with Japanese wrestlers. Dating back to the 1960s and Myron Roderick, OSU has fielded teams with Japanese wrestlers, including arguably the best in NCAA history in Yojiro Uetake.
