A team of Oklahoma girls turned in a spectacular performance to capture last weekend’s Ultimate Club Spring Freestyle Duals in Harrisburg, PA. Teaming up with girls from Colorado, Illinois, and Minnesota, the Living the Dream Team (LTD), dominated the opposition, going 8-0 and outscoring their opponents, 486-118, to capture the team title.
Team members from Oklahoma included Ponca City’s Heather Weaver and Marli Arbona, Kylee Ooton (Tuttle), Elissa Cruz (Piedmont), Sayben Owen (Perry), Edmond North’s Sasha Williams and Clover Williams, Emery Turner (McAlester), Abagail Lacy (Oologah), and Paige Wainscott (Union). Other team members included Justice Gutierrez, Timmery Condit, and Timberly Martinez, all from Pomona, CO, with Nora Akpan from Minnesota, Mia Renda from Pennsylvania, and Payton Temple from Illinois.
Nathan Williams put the team together, stating the girls just wanted to get better at freestyle and prepare for Fargo. That they did! The team rolled through their pool winning by scores of 72-1, 71-5, 67-11, 72-5, and 60-18 to advance to the Gold Bracket.
In the quarterfinals, LTD beat The United, 56-15. Elissa Cruz, Timmery Condit, Clover Williams, Timberly Martinez, Emery Turner, and Paige Wainscott all won by falls with Heather Weaver, Kylee Ooton, Justice Gutierrez, Sasha Williams, and Nora Apkan winning by technical superiority, and Abagial Lacy adding a win by forfeit.
In the semifinals, LTD topped South Hills Wrestling Academy, 47-30. Condit, and Clover Williams won by fall, with Gutierrez, Cruz, Sasha Williams, and Martinez winning by technical superiority, and Weaver, Akpan, Turner, and Lacy winning by forfeit.
The finals clash with MGW Riptide, PA was tight one, with Clover Williams picking up a critical win, when she broke a 6-6 tie, hitting a headlock to pin her opponent to help LTD pull out the 42-33 victory to claim the championship. Ooton, Condit, and Akpan also picked up falls, with Gutierrez and Sasha Williams winning by technical superiority, Martinez adding a 14-6 win, and Lacy and Wainscott winning by forfeit.
The team had six girls go a perfect 8-0 at the tournament. Sisters Sasha and Clover Williams went a combined 16-0 with eight falls and eight tech falls. Sasha and two falls and six tech falls, with Fargo runner-up Clover, picking up six falls and two tech falls. Sasha outscored her opponents 75-13 in her tech fall wins. Clover’s falls included falls in 0:34, 0:37, and 0:53.
Undefeated Colorado state champion, Justice Guiterrez outscored her opponents 71-1, in winning seven matches by tech fall and winning by forfeit in her other match. Colorado state runner-up Timberly Martinez went 8-0 with three falls and five tech falls. Martinez had falls in 0:15 and 0:37 and tech falls in 0:21, 0:40, and 0:43.
Minnesota state champion, Fargo champion and Iowa signee, Nora Akpan went 8-0 with three falls and two tech falls. Akpan’s falls were in 0:28, 0:32, and 0:33. Oologah’s two time state champion and Fargo All-American, Abagail Lacy went 8-0 for LTD, picking up two 10-0 tech fall wins.
Kylee Ooton, a junior high state champion for Tuttle, went 7-1, with three falls and two tech falls. Ooton had a fall in 0:18 and outscored her opponents, 22-2 in her tech fall wins. Elissa Cruz, a junior high state runner-up from Piedmont, went 7-1 with three falls and three tech falls. Included in her falls, were falls in 0:33 and 0:56.
Two-time state placer and 2025 runner-up Emery Turner from McAlester, went 7-1 with four falls, including falls in 0:44 and 0:46. Two-time state placer and 2025 runner-up, Paige Wainscott from Union, went 7-1 with two falls, including a fall in 0:16.
Ponca City’s Heather Weaver went 6-2 with two falls and three tech falls, including a tech fall in 0:30. Teammate Marli Arbona picked up two falls and two tech falls, including a fall in 0:37 and a tech fall in 0:34. Perry state runner-up Sayben Owen had one fall and three tech falls in her four wins. Owen outscored her opponents 32-0 in her tech fall wins.
Colorado state champion Timmery Condit went 7-1 with five falls, including falls in 0:37 and 0:46. Payton Temple, an undefeated state champion from Illinois, went 5-3 with three falls, including falls in 0:16 and 0:38.
Coaches for the team were Nathan Williams, Kevin Owen, and Colorado state champion coach Dustin Condit from Pomona.
