Union came in the underdog, but placing seven wrestlers in the top three, including three champions propelled them to the Girls Class 6A state championship. Broken Arrow finished as runner-up with Westmoore in 3rd and Bixby in 4th.
Fielding their entire lineup for the first time all season at regionals and dedicating the tournament to teammate, Lydia Suniga, who passed away last June, the inspired Union team could not be stopped. McKenna Wilson, Corey Harris, and Kelice Luker all won titles, with Kylee Tran, Dakota Harris, and Terrilan Banner all earning runner-up finishes, and Paige Wainscott placing 3rd.
Coached by Gerald Harris, Union scored 133 points to outdistance favored Broken Arrow by 14 points. The scary part for the other teams, is that Banner is the only senior out of the seven state placers. It was the second title for Wilson, who is just a sophomore, with Corey Harris winning her title as a freshman and Luker is a junior. Tran is a freshman, Dakota Harris is a junior, and Wainscott is a sophomore. Add in that the Union Girls won the Junior High All-State Tournament, they will be hard to beat the next few years.
Corey Harris is the sister of 4X state champion, Gerald “Boogie” Harris, making them the sixth brother-sister combos to win state titles.
Broken Arrow, coached by Tori Liles, had seven placers including two state champions. Kyah Leyba and Emily Beckley won titles, with Kristen DeLaRosa, Tiffany Breshears, and Sophie Donaho earning runner-up honors, and Sonora Reece and Reyleigh Liles adding 4th place finishes.

Westmoore, coached by Bryson McGowan, pushed five wrestlers into the finals, crowning three champions. Winning titles were twins Kyrain and Kyrstan Perez and junior Ranelle Smith. Hannah Lopez and Malia Tini earned runner-up finishes.
Bixby, coached by Jenna Burkert, crowned two champions and had three other placers. The two champions finished incredible careers as Millie Azlin became only the third 4X state champion and Addison Morse ended her career as a 3X state champion and 4X finalist. Brynlyn Sullivan earned a runner-up finish, with Audrey Flores, and Larra Mullin both placing 3rd.
Twins Kyrain and Kyrstan Perez combined to win five state titles at Westmoore. Kyrain ended her high school career as a 3X state champion and Kyrstan won two state titles and was a 3X finalist. Kyrstan finished the year with a perfect 35-0 record including winning all three State Tournament matches by fall. Kyrain had two tech falls on her way to the finals before winning her title with a 5-2 win over Union’s Kylee Tran. Both recently signed to wrestle in college at Fort Hays State.
Bixby’s Addison Morse advanced to the finals with two falls and won her third title with a 15-2 major decision over Westmoore’s Hannah Lopez. Morse, a runner-up as a freshman before winning titles the next three years, ended the season with a 28-2 record. Lopez, battling injuries throughout her career, was a 2023 state champion and 4X state placer.
Putnam City West’s Chloe Medlock improved from a state qualifier last year to a state champion this year. In the finals, she faced Broken Arrow’s returning state champion, Kristen DeLaRosa. Medlock lost by tech fall to DeLaRosa at last year’s State Tournament, but things were different this year, as she picked up the 7-4 win to make history, becoming Putnam City West’s first girls state champion. Medlock finished the year with a 32-1 record.
Union sophomore McKenna Wilson stayed on track to become a 4X state champion, picking up falls in all three matches to win the 120 lb. title. In the finals, Wilson was leading Bixby’s Brynlyn Sullivan 15-4, when she got the fall at the buzzer, winning by fall in 6:00. Wilson finished the year with a 29-2 record.
Westmoore junior Ranelle Smith won the rubber match with Norman’s Claire Lancaster to win the 125 lb. state title. Smith defeated Lancaster earlier in the year, but Lancaster won at the regional tournament. Smith was leading 4-2 when she turned Lancaster, getting the fall in 5:48. Smith, with previous state placings of 4th and 3rd, ended the year with a 36-3 record.
One of the best matches of the night featured two extremely talented wrestlers at 130 lbs. Broken Arrow sophomore Kyah Leyba was a runner-up last season and Union senior Terrilan Banner won the 140 lb. state title last year. Banner almost ended it early, putting Leyba on her back and jumping to a 7-0 lead. Leyba battled back and tied it, sending it to sudden victory. The two exhausted wrestlers gave it all they had and with time running out in sudden victory got into a wild scramble with Leyba finally coming out on top to win the title. Leyba finished the year with a 30-5 record. Banner finished her stellar career as a state champion and 4X state placer, going 3-2-1-2.
Freshman Corey Harris, the daughter of Coach Gerald Harris, advanced to the finals with two falls and won her first title with an 8-1 win over Broken Arrow’s Tiffany Breshears. Harris ended the season with a 23-2 record. Her win meant Broken Arrow had to win the next two weights by fall to tie Union for the state championship.
Sophomore Kelice Luker made sure that didn’t happen, as she officially gave the title to Union when she pinned Broken Arrow Sophie Donaho. Luker a 3rd place medalist as a freshman, advanced to the finals with a fall and major decision and ended her season with a 25-2 record.
Broken Arrow’s multitalented Emily Beckley not only won her second state title, she got the evening off to a great start with an inspiring performance of the National Anthem. Beckley advanced to the finals with two 1st period falls and won the title with a 9-4 win over Ada’s Makenna Howell. Beckley, a Fargo runner-up last year, ended the season with a 32-1 record and will enter her senior season with a sparkling 118-5 career record. Howell advanced to the finals with a 6-2 win over 2025 state champion Makaylee Cannon from Piedmont. Howell, a 3X state placer, ended the season with a 24-4 record.
Payton Maggard became Owasso’s first girl’s state champion when she won the 155 lb. title. Maggard advanced to the finals with two falls and faced Stillwater state runner-up Mya Dobrinski in the finals. Dobrinski pinned Maggard at last year’s State Tournament, but Maggard avenged that loss, using takedowns in the 1st and 3rd period to claim the title with a 6-2 win. Maggard, a 3rd place medalist in 2024, finished her junior year with a 30-2 record.
While Maggard was Owasso’s first girls state champion, they didn’t have to wait long to crown their second champion. Jadi Asberry placed 4th at the regional tournament, but had a magical run to claim the 170 lb. state title. After getting a fall in the wrestle-in match, she advanced to the semifinals with a fall over regional champion and 2024 state runner-up Abby Anglley from Elgin. Asberry advanced to the finals with a fall over regional runner-up Ashtyn Gilkey from Collinsville. Asberry trailed 9-4 when she got the fall in 3:37. In the finals, she faced Del City’s Chloe Daniels. Daniels, an inspiration to all, competing with a congenital limb and only one fully functional arm, had advanced to the finals with a 15-10 win over regional champion Sonora Reece from Broken Arrow.
Daniels had defeated Asberry twice at the regional tournament, winning 17-8 in the quarterfinals and by a fall in the consolation finals. Daniels had the early lead with a 1st period takedown, but in the 3rd period, Asberry not only took the lead with a takedown, she put Daniels on her back getting the fall in 5:43 to claim the unexpected state title. Asberry, a sophomore ended the season with a 28-10 record.
Then it was time for history, as Bixby’s Millie Azlin capped her incredible career, winning state title number four, joining Peyton Hand and Jadyn Roller as the only girls 4X state champions. The finals matchup was a classic as Azlin faced Putnam City junior Tessalynn Goodner, who was already a 2X state champion. It was a low scoring battle between two incredible wrestlers with Azlin’s 2nd period reversal and 3rd period ride out giving her state title number four with the 2-0 win. It was the only match in Azlin’s four years at the State Tournament in which she did not win by fall. Azlin finished the year with a perfect 32-0 record and an amazing 133-3 career record.
Lawton junior Brielle Williams advanced to the finals with two falls and claimed the first state title for Lawton Girl’s wrestling with a 2-0 win in the finals over Westmoore’s Malia Tini. Prior to this year, Williams was a 2X state qualifier but through hard work, moved all the way up the podium to win the 235 lb. state title. Williams finished 24-1 on the year. For her efforts, Williams was named the Outstanding Wrestler of the Tournament.
