Last year, McLoud won the Girls Class 5A state title, by one single point over Little Axe. This year’s powerful team made it back-to-back championships, but in a much different way, wrapping up the championship after the semifinals and winning the title by 93 points over runners-up Perry and Harrah.
McLoud, coached by Chad Whitney, had eight state placers, including three champions to score a Girls State Tournament record 146 points. Winning titles were Remy Whitney, Carli Sisco, and Kendra Perrien, with Gabriella Lozano, Launa Troutt, and Alexus Jones earning runner-up finishes, Riley Samarripa placing 3rd and Melania Nenaikita placing 4th.
Perry, coached by Bryan Wilson, crowned their first girls state champion with AJ Waren winning the 120 lb. title, with Sayben Owen earning a runner-up finish and Karissa Jones placing 4th.

Sophomore Remy Whitney, a state runner-up last year, joined her dad/coach as a 100 lb. state champion, with Chad winning the 100 lb. title in his freshman year in 1995. Remy finished a dominant year on the mat with two falls and an 18-2 tech fall in 3:07 in the finals over Harrah’s Madden Talley to win her own 100 lb. title. Whitney finished the year with a 40-2 record, including a major decision over 6A champion, Kyrain Perez from Westmoore. Remy and Chad are the fourth father-daughter duo to win state titles.
Harrah, coached by Ryan Bates, had four placers with Madden Talley earning a runner-up finish, Olivia Miller placing 3rd, and Kayleigh Braden and Jaylee Simmons adding 4th place finishes.

McLoud sophomore Carli Sisco stayed on track to become a 4X state champion, winning her second state title with an 8-6 win over Berryhill’s Grace Halbert. Sisco trailed by one point entering the 3rd period, but scored the winning takedown early in the final period and then used a tough ride to claim the 105 lb. title. Sisco ended the year with a 32-5 record.
Woodland sophomore Talli Washington covered it all for Woodland in one year, becoming their first state qualifier, first state placer, first state finalist, and their first state champion. Washington had falls in all three of her matches, including a fall in 3:05 in the finals over Pawhuska’s Savanna Hendren. Washington finished the year with a 23-2 record.
Barnsdall’s Kelcie Avallone never went into the 2nd period, getting falls in 1:06, 1:04, and 1:01 in the finals over McLoud’s Gabriella Lozano to win the 115 lb. title. Avallone, 42-3 this year, finished her outstanding career as a 2X state champion and 3X finalist with a 132-11 career record.
Perry junior AJ Waren advanced to the finals with two falls, where she faced defending state champion, Launa Troutt from McLoud. After a scoreless 1st period, each wrestler rode each other out in the 2nd and 3rd periods, forcing sudden victory. Waren countered Troutt’s shot midway through the period to win the 120 lb. title and become the first state champion for the Lady Maroons. Waren, a 3rd place medalist last year, finished the season with a 34-11 record.
If there was an Inspiration Award, the hands down winner is Launa Troutt. Overcoming health issues that would keep most of us bedridden, she was a team leader that battled every day and fought her way into the state finals. Troutt finished the year with a 21-4 record and finished her career with a 128-27 record.
Sulphur senior Jolee Thomas, an OSU signee, capped off an undefeated season (25-0) by winning the 125 lb. title. Thomas advanced to the finals with two falls and won the title with an 11-2 major decision over Perry’s Sayben Owen. Owen had advanced to the finals with a 14-3 major decision over 2025 state champion Baylor Moore from Clinton. Thomas, a state runner-up last year, finished her career as a 3X state placer and was 70-6 the past three years.
Hinton’s Dru Turner once again dominated the competition, winning her third state title with a 16-1 tech fall over Bridge Creek’s Hannah Miller to claim the 130 lb. title. Turner, placed 3rd at the State Tournament as a freshman, before winning her three state titles. In the last three state tournaments, Dru went 9-0 with eight falls and one tech fall. Turner, 24-1 this season, finished her stellar career with a 124-3 record. Miller finished her career as a 3X state placer with a 133-25 record.
Bridge Creek freshman Kasia Wong took the first step in becoming a 4X state champion, winning the 135 lb. title with all falls. In the finals, Wong led 7-0 before pinning 2024 state champion Alexus Jones from McLoud in 3:51. Wong finished the season with a perfect 14-0 record with 13 falls and a major decision.
The 140 lb. finals featured 2024 state champion and 2025 runner-up Gage Vaughn from Caddo and 2025 state champion Maggie Beaird from Mannford. Vaughn, who advanced to the finals with two 1st period falls, led 14-0 before pinning Beaird in 2:39 to win the title and earn the Outstanding Wrestler Award. Vaughn finished the year 31-1 and takes a 78-3 record into her senior season.

McLoud junior Kendra Perrien, a 2024 state runner-up and still recovering from an injury that forced her to miss most of last season, opened her tournament with a fall over Oologah 2025 state placer, Jentri Burch. In the semifinals, she avenged a regional tournament loss, winning by a 12-3 major decision over 2X state champion, Kylie Freeman from Tonkawa. In the finals she broke open a close match, pinning Plainview’s Adama Coenen in 5:20 to win the 145 lb. state title.
Anadarko junior Lyndi Cisco is one step closer to becoming a 4X state champion, winning her third state title with a close finals win over Oologah’s 3X state placer Piper Morton. Morton scored the opening takedown, but reversals by Cisco in the 1st and 2nd periods were the difference as she won by a 4-3 score to claim the 155 lb. state title. Cisco, who advanced to the finals with two straight falls, ended the season with a 25-4 record and enters her senior season with a 70-6 career record.
Jay’s Iliana Salazar fought through one of the toughest brackets to win the 170 lb. state title. Salazar, a state runner-up at 155 lbs. last season, opened with a fall and advanced to the finals with a fall over Wagoner’s Alyvia Edwards, a Fargo All-American and state runner-up at 190 last season. Salazar’s finals opponent was West Regional champion, Ashlee Moates from Morrison who had advanced to the finals with a fall over Oologah state runner-up JayLee Sanders. Salazar claimed the title with a fall in 3:23 over Moates.
Sulphur’s Parker Wynn’s path to a state title included matches with a Fargo All-American and a 2X state champion. Wynn won both of the matches as the freshman took her first step in becoming a 4X state champion. Wynn moved to the finals with a 7-5 win over Fargo All-American and returning state placer, Riley Samarripa from McLoud. In the finals, Wynn faced 2X state champion and 3X state placer, Brook West from Comanche. Wynn avenged a regional finals loss, scoring the opening takedown 20 seconds into the match, on her way to the 4-0 win to claim the 190 lb. state title. Wynn finished the year with a 21-3 record.
The 235 lb. finals match was a repeat from last year, featuring Oologah sophomore Abagail Lacy and Little Axe junior Chloe Vawter. Lacy repeated last year’s win, claiming her second state title with a fall in 3:08 over Vawter. Lacy, a Fargo All-American, advanced to the finals with a tech fall and fall. Lacy finished the year with a perfect 23-0 record. Vawter, the 2024 state champion, finished the season with a 27-2 record and will enter her senior season with an 85-10 record.
