Class 4A regional action saw Tuttle once again win the West Regional Tournament and Bristow claim the East Regional title. Tuttle finished 88 points ahead of runner-up Sallisaw, with Cache finishing in 3rd place. Bristow finished 58 points ahead of runner-up Ft. Gibson, with Berryhill finishing in 3rd place.
Tuttle, coached by Bobby Williams, has12 state qualifiers, including six regional champions. Maxwell Bradley, Chance Fisher, Kylan Ooton, Bode Wilson, Rylend Slover, and Shawn Rounsaville won titles, with Cooper McLeroy, Cooper Jackson, and Maddox Witt earning runner-up finishes, Brooks Woods and Zyler Gonzalez placing 3rd, and Evan Moore placing 4th. Jackson and Fisher are returning state champions. The title was Tuttle’s 19th straight regional title and their 28th title overall.
Bristow, coached by Howard Moore, is taking 11 to the State Tournament, including three regional champions. Winning titles were Braylon Freeman, Mack Powell, and returning state champion Haydan Yocham, with Javon Freeman, Cain Clay, and Marley Branscum placing 2nd, Westin Vanzant and Hudson Claggett placing 3rd, Tucker Daniels placing 4th and Cordeus Wahl and Kale Fruits adding 5th place finishes. The regional title was Bristow’s first since 2007 and their ninth title overall.
Sallisaw, coached by Mark Smith, qualified nine for the State Tournament, including two regional champions. Winning titles were Brody Mills and state champion Bodie Adams, with Lucas McAllister, Alex Reed earning runner-up finishes and Morgan Duke, Dawson Glover, Briar James, Cash Mayfield, and Drew Simpson all placing 3rd. With all nine in the top three, Sallisaw will not have to wrestle in Thursday’s wrestle-in matches, unless they opted to the 4th place spot.
Ft. Gibson, coached by Sammy Johnson, had three regional champions out of their eight state qualifiers. State champion Trenton Bell, and state runners-up Brendan Bell, and Stevie Vafeas won titles, with Callan Caldwell and Caleb Miller placing 2nd, Jaeden Johnson placing 3rd, and David Farmer and Alex Vafeas placing 4th.
Cache, coached by Jimbo Smith, heads to the State Tournament with three regional champions and six other placers. Taii Walsh, Ardie Armour, and Case Hardzog won titles, with Max Daly placing 2nd, Baylor Pugh, Quanah Famero, and Tazer Phillips all placing 4th, and Landon Collins and Mario Famero placing 5th. Walsh won his title with his second win of the season over Tuttle state champion Cooper Jackson.
Berryhill, coached by Jonce Blaylock, has nine state qualifiers, including regional champion Braden Strain. Other placers were runner-up Brice Lozinsky, 3rd place placers Cael Dolan and Roman Tyler, and 4th place medalists Graham Blair, Malaki Venetoff, Mathew Moore, Sam Moore, and Xander Wiley.
Cushing crowned three champion in the East Regional, with Landon Dietz, Revin Fipps, and Bryce Ward winning titles. Other East Regional champions were Hudson Glover from Skiatook, Parker Ingram from Cleveland, Jake Hart from Perkins-Tryon, and Maddax Mobly from Sulphur.
Other West Regional champions were Ryken Kraft and Keedan Martin, both from Bridge Creek, and Weatherford’s Aiden Willard.
