Yukon vs Edmond North Dual Recap

The Schnieder Bowl Champion trophy record is 12-2 in favor of Andy. Photo: Mark Kirk

Following our most recent rankings, we have a top 5 matchup tonight between the Edmond North Huskies and the Yukon Millers.

This dual features a pretty neat event known as the Schneider bowl as coach Joe Schneider for Yukon is younger brother to Coach Andy Schneider for the Huskies.

It was neat to see the family affair as the whole family got together for a picture before the dual. Both great coaches and a great wrestling family that Oklahoma is lucky to have.

I got a chance to chat with coach Joe Schneider before the match and he talked about the influence his brother had on his wrestling career growing up.

While he knew the tough task the Yukon Millers had ahead, coach Schneider saw it as an opportunity to continue to get better and keep developing their skills.

Aside from the annual Schneider bowl, Edmond North was also hosting Senior Night as they celebrate a special group of seniors.

I have been around wrestling for quite a while and this group of seniors has to be up there with some of the best I have ever seen.

They need to come up with a cool squad name! Mark Kirk sat down with the group earlier this week. If you haven’t already, be sure to check out his recap and group interviews below:

Now, to the action…

Yukon vs Edmond North Dual Recap:

106lbs weight class dual match:
Jacob Kinzer (North) vs. Caleb Schneider (Yukon) Both guys feeling it out, Schneider in on a couple of shots but tough sprawl from Kinzer holds off the takedown, no points scored. Big mat return for Kinzer but nice switch for Schneider on the return for a reversal. Kinzer gets himself a reversal late in the period to end the 2nd period, 2-2. Tough ride for Schneider sends it to overtime. Schneider gets in deep on a double, cuts back and gets the TWO. Yukon on the board first. Schneider is young and has a good build for a 106. I think this kid has a bright future ahead and will look to make waves as he grows and matures!

Team score: EN 0 Yukon 3

113lbs weight class dual match:
Jaiden Rutledge (North) vs Jaxon Kennedy (Yukon). Rutledge wastes no time and gets right in on the legs for a quick takedown. Reversal for Kennedy and a tough ride ends the period tied at 2. Kennedy gets escape to start the period and fires back with a takedown himself. Kennedy locks up a funky reverse half and gets the FALL…
