The weekend before Christmas Break was an extremely busy one with at least seven tournaments in Oklahoma and teams hitting the road to compete in tournaments in Missouri, Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Nevada, Texas, and Louisiana.
Team champions for the boys include Stillwater, Carl Albert, Cache, Southmoore, Pawnee, Weatherford, Hobart, and Bartlesville. Girls champions include Norman, Claremore, Douglass, Guthrie, and Stillwell.
Listed below are brief recaps of some of the tournaments. All of the results can be found in the Tournament Results section of the OWrestle website.
Stillwater and Edmond North were both missing key wrestlers at the prestigious 76-team Kansas City Stampede, but that didn’t stop Stillwater from winning the tournament and Edmond North from finishing 5th in an extremely tight team race in which 1st to 5th was only separated by ten points. Stillwater won the title with 178.5, followed by Buford, GA (177.5), Liberty, MO (175.5), Dowling Catholic, IA (172.5) and Edmond North (168). Deer Creek finished 15th to lead a pack of 11 other Oklahoma teams competing in the tournament.
Stillwater had seven placers, including champions Ignacio Villasensor and Eric Casula, while Edmond North had six placers with Garrison Sartain and Joseph Jeter winning titles.

In the Girls Tournament at the Kansas City Stampede, Westmoore had four placers, including champions Kyrstan Perez and Ranelle Smith to earn a 4th place finish in the 67-team tournament. Also earning top 10 finishes, were Owasso (7th) and Sand Springs (10th). Eight other Oklahoma teams participated including Hinton, which got a runner-up finish from Dru Turner at 130 lbs.

Carl Albert dominated the competition to win the Donnie Morgan Memorial Dual Tournament in Claremore, with their closest dual being a 49-26 win over 2nd place Claremore. Carl Albert went 9-0 in the tournament, logging five shutout wins and outscoring their opponents by a staggering 637-66. Carl Albert’s Carsten Cagle had the most falls in the least time, earning eight falls in 9:14, with teammate Wesley Davies also recording eight falls in 16:33.
The day before the Claremore Tournament, Carl Albert was in Coweta, competing against Class 5A #1 Coweta and Class 4A #2 Bristow. Coweta defeated Carl Albert 50-19 and Bristow 50-15, while Carl Albert defeated Bristow 47-29.
Cache won the Duncan Southern Oklahoma Invitational with Taii Walsh and Case Hardzog winning titles. Hardzog’s fall in the finals over his Rockwall Heath opponent, sealed the win for Cache as they won the title by five points over Rockwall Heath. Guthrie’s Clayton Carey won the 165 lb. title to lead Guthrie to a 3rd place finish and Berryhill finished 4th and crowned the most individual champions, with Cael Dolan, Roman Tyler, Brice Lozinsky, and Braden Strain all winning titles.
A balanced Southmoore team pushed six into the finals and had eight placers to win the Norman Invitational by 13 points over runner-up Newcastle. In the Girls Tournament, host Norman had eight placers, including champions Daviann Morris, Rylie Hillis, Claire Lancaster, and Tinsley Nett to win the tournament by 16 points over 2nd place Comanche. For the second tournament in a row, Lancaster had the most falls in least time, this time getting four falls in 5:21
Led by 170 lb. champion Paige Webster, Claremore had six placers to win the Joe Cole/Cleveland Classic by 10 points over 2nd place, Mannford. Cleveland’s 120 lb. champion, Shelby Taylor was the champion with the most falls in the least time, earning four falls in 11:28. Fargo All-American Alyvia Edwards from Wagoner had three falls in 1:03 to win the 190 lb. title.
In the boys tournament in Cleveland, Pawnee had 10 placers with seven individual champions to easily win the team title over runner-up Woodward. Winning titles for Pawnee were Ashton Andrews, Deacon Britt, Jacob Harper, Nathan Goodman, Aiden Marquez, Hunter Patterson, and Cale McPeek, with McPeek leading the way with four falls in 3:56.
At the Max Dippel Memorial Tournament in Weatherford, Douglass won the girls tournament, edging out runner-up Anadarko by five points. Weatherford won the boys tournament by 12 points over 2nd place Elgin.
A resurgent Hobart team won the Kingfisher Tournament, finishing four points ahead of 2nd place Kingfisher. Tonkawa freshman Bodie Swords won the 113 lb. title with four falls in 1:42. Guthrie won the girls tournament, finishing 40 points ahead of runner-up Capitol Hill.
In the 1st ever Cherokee County Classic, Bartlesville ran away with the title in the boys tournament, crowning four champions to more than double 2nd place Hilldale. In a tight race in the girls tournament, Stillwell won the title by six points over runner-up Bartlesville, with Vian just one point behind Bartlesville.
At the Boys Bring the Hammer Tournament in Cabot, AR, Oklahoma teams crowned six individual champions. Norman North crowned three champions with Jackson Smith (113), Jeremiah Harrison (132) and Kyler Lester (138) all winning titles. Bridge Creek got titles from Ryken Kraft (106) and Jude Smith (285), with Jay’s Armando Newcomb winning the 175 lb. title. In the team race, Oklahoma placed 3rd -6th with Cushing placing 3rd, followed closely by Bridge Creek, Norman North, and Jay.
In the Girls Bring the Hammer Tournament, Ponca City finished 4th, Perry 5th, and Jay 8th, with six other Oklahoma teams also competing. Winning individual titles were Tuttle’s Liz McLeroy (120), Bridge Creek’s Hannah Miller (135), and Perry freshman Karissa Jones at 235.
Yukon traveled to the always tough 111 team Reno Tournament of Champions with Destry Lujan earning a 3rd place finish at 285 lbs.
Tuttle competed in the 37th Annual Al Dvorak Invitational in Illinois and finished 7th out of 46 schools. Tuttle had six placers with Chance Fisher placing 3rd and Maxwell Bradley and Rylend Slover earning 4th place finishes.
Marlow traveled to Harrisonville, MO to compete in their Christmas Tournament and earned a runner-up finish with Tommy Miller, Brennen Harris, and Clint Ladon all winning individual titles and Justin Choate and Griffin Shelby earning runner-up finishes.
McLoud and Little Axe traveled to Colorado to compete in the Northern Colorado Christmas Tournament. In the Girls Tournament, McLoud had seven placers, including runner-up Remy Whitney and 3rd place medalist, Alexus Jones, as the team placed 8th out of 54 teams. Little Axe got runner-finishes form Aubrie Davis and Chloe Vawter to finish in 11th place.
Putnam City traveled to Coppell, TX and competed in the Ms. Claus Slam and Santa Slam. Both the boys and girls teams earned 6th place finishes, with the girls having four placers, with 2X state champion Tessalynn Goodner winning the 190 lb. title and Evelyn Jerez Gamas earning a runner-up finish. The boys team had five placers, led by 215 lb. runner-up Cameron Kopp.
