Edmond North
Round 1 – Edmond North dominates the opening round with an Oklahoma matchup taking the win over Tuttle 59-6. (See the previous breakdown for match by match results).
Round 2 – Edmond North takes on St. Peter’s Prep from New Jersey. McCollum gets things started for the huskies at 190 with a 2nd period techfall. Williams and Thomas keep things going, both with 1st period falls followed by a fall from Goodin at 106 over Barron (St Peter) to go up 23-0. Skidmore had a tough match against Borrometi, a state placer for NJ, but Skidmore gets stuck in a weird scramble and ends up getting pinned. At 120 Miller held off a flurry of attacks late from Talarico to get a 3-1 win. Belford dominates on top and gets the major-decision at 126, 9-0. At 138 Hollingsworth looks relentless on his feet and gets the techfall in the 3rd period. Another pair for 1st period falls for Schneider at 144 and Jeter at 150 really get things rolling for Edmond North. Some good scrambles between Routledge and Nevlin (St Peter) but the pace just seemed to much for Nevlin as Routledge gets the win, 10-4. Tough match for Lucas at 165, but Randall ends on a good note for the huskies with a fall. Final score 62-12 Edmond North
Round 3 – This is the exciting and marque matchup for Edmond North against Buchanan of California as both teams come into this round undefeated. Starting at 215 Edmond North gets the early momentum with a major-decision from Williams and a pair of falls from Thomas at 285 and Goodin at 106 to go up 16-0. The next handful of matches were all bangers. Miller grinds out a tough win over Huerta, score 3-2 at 120 and Hollingsworth grinds out another one 5-2 over Bauder (Buchanan) at 138. At 144 a wild and exciting match between Schneider and Toscano as the ref originally calls a reversal at the end of the match but changes it to an escape to send it to overtime. Toscano gets the takedown in OT for Buchanan, score 6-4. Another big nationally ranked matchup at 157 as Routledge takes on Contino. Routeldge able to get in on Contino legs multiple times, but unable to finish and Contino gets the win 5-1. Really nice major-decision win for Randall at 175 to secure the dual win. McCollom wraps it up for the Huskies and Edmond North wins the dual 35-19…
