While it wasn’t the 33-6 beatdown OSU put on Nebraska at the National Duals Invitational, OSU did more than enough to beat the Huskers 22-12 Sunday afternoon in Omaha. Super freshman Sergio Vega and Ladarion Lockett kept their undefeated records, while Casey Swiderski was able to pick up a much needed top ten win. Here’s how it went:
125 (8/7) Troy Spratley (5-2) v. (UR/UR) Kael Lauridsen (6-4)
The dual began at 125, with the Pokes looking for some bonus points, and with an easy quick takedown early in the first, it appeared Spratley might make quick work of Lauridsen. Instead, Spratley put on a ride of over a minute before cutting him and wasn’t able to score any more in the first. Sprat got another takedown in each the second and third and picked up the major decision 12-4, and Nebrasksa is lucky it wasn’t more. OSU 4-0.
133 (21/21) Ronnie Ramirez (6-2) vs. (8/8) Jacob Van Dee (8-1)
Ramirez had his work cut out for him at 133. Van Dee got a leg in the first few seconds, but Ramirez was able to work his way to a stalemate. Neither guy did much for the rest of the 1st. Van Dee got a quick escape in the 2nd, and was right back on a leg, but again, Ramirez was able to work a stalemate. In the 3rd, Ramirez was out quick and there was 1:55 for either guy to score. Van Dee again was on a leg, and this time was able to convert, which was the difference in the match. 4-1 win for Van Dee. OSU 4-3
