Cowboy Wrestling Enters 2025-26 Season Ranked Fifth

STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State wrestling team begins the 2025-26 season as the No. 5 team in the NWCA Coaches poll, the organization announced Wednesday.

The Cowboys are set to face 10 of the top 25 teams in the poll in dual action this season, including No. 2 Nebraska, No. 3 Iowa, No. 6 Iowa State, No. 10 Virginia Tech, No. 13 Northern Iowa, No. 14 Stanford, No. 18 Missouri, No. 19 Oklahoma, No. 20 West Virginia, and No. 22 Little Rock. OSU will also battle No. 12 Cornell in the opening round of the National Duals Invitational, with the possibility of facing No. 7 NC State in the second match and several other ranked teams at the tournament.

As for individual rankings, Intermat’s latest set of preseason rankings had nine Cowboys listed, including six in the top 10 at their respective weight classes.

Troy Spratley leads the way for the Cowboys as the second-ranked 125-pounder. Iowa State transfer Casey Swiderski (149) checked in at No. 5, Penn State transfer Zack Ryder (184) came in at No. 7 and Arizona State transfer Richard Figueroa II (133), Cody Merrill (197) and Konner Doucet (HWT) were all ranked 10th. 

Other Cowboys in the rankings include Teague Travis (157) at No. 16, Alex Facundo (174) at No. 18 and Cael Hughes (141) rounded out the group at No. 21. 

Oklahoma State opens its season November 7 at 7 p.m. against No. 14 Stanford in Gallagher-Iba Arena.
