Yukon Red vs. White Dual

After hosting another successful open tournament this past weekend, Yukon looked to kick things off with their annual Red vs. White dual. Admission to the dual was a non-perishable food item as Yukon wrestling gathered donations for the Miller Food Pantry. It is cool to see a community come out and support their team who then also gives support back to their community.

Yukon seeks to continue to improve again this year after a top 10 finish at the 2023 state tournament. Yukon returns 7 state qualifiers to the lineup, 6 of which are currently ranked. It was evident that Yukon had no lack of depth as over 50 Miller wrestlers battled it out through 27 total matches. A couple of missing weights at 120 and 144, however there were multiple bouts at the surrounding weight classes, giving them some options down to road.

Junior high boys got things going as the Red squad was able to pull out the win over White with a final dual score of 39-34. The high school boys were able to flip the script as White came out victorious 74-62 over the red squad (There were more than the traditional 14 dual matches which explains the high score). After the dual, coach Joe Schneider gathered the team to go over some technical positions that he noticed throughout the duals that they can build upon as they head into the season. After one more weekend of open tournaments, Yukon looks to kick off their home duals starting with a Junior Varsity matchup against Hinton at Yukon middle school on Nov. 28, followed by the high school Varsity matchup against Piedmont on November 30 at Yukon high school.
