Updated 3A Rankings

Listed below are the Class 3A rankings as of January 12.

Jay continues to lead the team race, but Blackwell is making a strong push to the top after winning the Cushing Tournament, with defending champion Marlow ready to move up as they get more matches under their belt.

Notable performances from last week include Pawnee’s Malique Barber knocking off Inola’s 2X state champion Jose Flores on his way to winning the Inola Tournament, John Roberts (OCS) winning the Cushing Tournament with a 2-0 win over Blackwell state runner-up Christian Mora and Cade White’s (Comanche) 4th place finish at Geary which included a fall over Marlow state runner-up Cody Huber and a 9-4 win over KJ Miley (MO state champion and ranked 7th in the nation at 285). Blackwell freshman Kruz Goff moves to the top spot at 195 after another impressive performance in winning the Cushing Tournament.

Salina’s Hunter Fitzpatrick, Gavin Montgomery and Jack Wilkins all won titles at the always tough Larry Wilkey Invitational at Jenks and have a strong case that all three should be ranked number one.

At 132, Vinita’s Rashaud Morgan keeps the top spot based on his impressive performance in winning the Perry Tournament in December (also named OW). His wins at Perry included a fall over Ponca City’s Jack Swenson, who Fitzpatrick beat 7-6 in the Jenks finals. At 152, it could easily go 1A and 1B between Montgomery and Barber, but Barber’s win over a 2X champ gives him the edge this week.

Much can and will change in the next couple of weeks as the Marlow continues to get into wrestling shape after winning the state football championship and this weekend’s 30 team Western Conference Tournament will show who deserves to move up in the rankings.
