EDMOND – Central Oklahoma threw a bonus party Sunday afternoon at Hamilton Field House, overwhelming Fort Hays State 42-6 behind four falls, two technical falls and two major decisions.

The No. 5-ranked Bronchos got pins from 125 Studd Morris, 141 Josh Taylor, 149 Dylan Brown and 165 Hunter Jump, with three of those coming in the final period. Peter Rolle (133) and Gabe Johnson (157) posted easy technical falls, while 184 Garrett Wells and 197 Emmanuel Skillings earned major decisions.

UCO lost two close matches in notching its 24th consecutive home win, which ties a school record. The Bronchos improved to 10-1 overall and 3-0 in the MIAA with their 23rd straight conference victory.

“We’re always looking to score bonus points whenever we can, so I was happy with that,” head coach Todd Steidley said. “We still weren’t as sharp as we need to be at a few spots and will have to wrestle a lot better Friday.”

Central hosts long-time rival and No. 4-ranked Nebraska-Kearney at 7 p.m. Friday in a big showdown.

The Bronchos opened the dual with six straight bonus wins in going ahead 34-0 to quickly put the Tigers away.

Morris started that stretch with a second-period fall in the opening match. The top-ranked senior trailed 8-7 going into the second period, but quickly put A.B. Stokes on his back and secured his fifth pin of the season at the 3:21 mark.

Rolle racked up five takedowns in a 17-2 mauling at 133 and Taylor built a 11-0 lead before notching his second pin of the year 37 seconds into the second stanza.

Brown was behind 5-3 when he took Drew Bell to his back early in the third period and got the fall, his fourth of the season. Johnson had three takedowns and a near-fall in a 15-0 shellacking and Jump had a 14-0 cushion before getting his third fall at 6:02.

Wells cruised to a 12-0 shutout behind a three-takedown attack and Skillings got the last of his three takedowns with five seconds left to secure an 11-2 major decision.

Tucker Waitman dropped a tough 7-6 decision at 174 after he was unable to come up with a go-ahead takedown in the final 45 seconds, while Judson Rowland fell 4-1 at heavyweight on a takedown with seven seconds remaining.
