Top-ranked Central Oklahoma travel to Midwest Duals to meet a pair of top-25 teams

Top-ranked Central Oklahoma returns to the mat Saturday when the Bronchos travel to Kearney, Neb. to meet a pair of top-25 opponents in the Midwest Duals.

UCO, 7-0 on the season, will take on No. 21 Western Colorado (2-4) and No. 13 Adams State (2-2)  in the all-day event at Buffalo County Fairgrounds. The Bronchos open against the Mountaineers at 9 a.m. before meeting the Grizzlies at 11 a.m.

The Bronchos haven’t competed since beating No. 2-ranked St. Cloud State in the finals of the NWCA Division II National Duals on Jan. 7 in Louisville, Ky.  Last week’s scheduled home showdown with No. 3 McKendree was canceled due to health and safety concerns.

“We haven’t wrestled in awhile and our guys are ready to get back at it,” head coach Todd Steidley said. “I’m anxious to see how we do since we’ve missed a lot of practice time the last couple of weeks.

“We’re going against two solid teams and need to be ready to go, especially since we have a target on our backs now. It should be two good duals and we’re looking forward to competing again.”
