The #4 ranked OSU Cowboys (2-0) meet up with the #24 ranked Wyoming Cowboys (2-0) at historic Gallagher Iba Arena on Friday, November 22 at 7:00 p.m. It will be televised on ESPN+ but you should really be in the seats. This will be OK State Head Coach David Taylor’s first home dual in Stillwater, and he has promised some fun additions to the dual atmosphere that should keep the crowds coming. At least two highly rated recruits will be in attendance for the weekend (Jax Forrest and Bo Bassett) so it will be a time for OSU fans to not only show HCDT how much we support the team, but to show out to recruits as well.
Wyoming beat Campbell Camels 28-12 in the “Dual at the Daddy” and a clearly overmatched JuCo Western Wyoming College 46-0 to earn their 2-0 start. Wyoming is coached by former OK State Cowboy great, Mark Branch, a two time national champion and four time national finalist for the Pokes. He was also a coach at OSU for more than a decade rising to associate head coach under John Smith for 6 years. Branch is also a great twitter (X) follow at @Branch9497
OSU beat Wyoming 31-9 last year going 8-2 on the night with the only losses being Jore Volk over Troy Spratley and Joey Novak pin over Jersey Robb.
Rankings are Intermat/Flo and expected starters/records via Wrestlestat.
125: (6/6) Troy Spratley (2-0) v. (2/2) Jore Volk (1-0): Match of the night. Troy is 0-2 against Volk last year losing in OT at Big XII and 5-1 in the dual in Wyoming. Nothing about last weekend’s OSU duals tells me that Spratley is a favorite this year, yet. Volk is a two time NCAA qualifier and one time AA (7th). Volk has beat (26/25) Anthony Moultin and (5/5) Tanner Jordan already this season, although the Jordan match was at the NWCA All Star Classic and didn’t count for records, he still beat him 8-2. I think Troy gets better as the year goes on but loses this one. (0-3 Wyoming)
