Before we get too deep into freestyle/Greco and spring sports, let’s recognize our 2025 state champions one more time. Listed below are the team and individual state champions, multiple-year state champions, and other results and records from the State Tournament.
Broken Arrow, coached by Tori Adams-Liles had an incredible year, winning everything in sight, and claiming the Class 6A state championship with a Girls State Tournament scoring record of 143 points. Winning titles for Broken Arrow were Kristen DeLaRosa and Emily Beckley, with Kyah Leyba, Tiffany Breshears earning runner-up finishes, Brooklyn Church, Addison Farquhar, Riley Roblyer, and Sonora Reece placing 3rd and Alina Peralta adding a 4th place finish. DeLaRosa won her title with a finals win over Stillwater state champion Abigail Rivero.
McLoud and Little Axe battled to the very end for the Class 5A state title, with McLoud, coached by William Winters, winning by just one point. The friendly rivalry between the two neighboring schools is fun to watch and their respect for each other is obvious and is an example of what makes this such a great sport.
McLoud was led by state champions Carli Sisco and Launa Troutt, with Troutt’s 15-0 tech fall win in the finals over Pawhuska state champion Kelcie Avallone, the final points that gave McLoud the Class 5A state championship. Yazmin Nevarez and Addison Adams took well-earned runner-up finishes and where every point was obviously critical for the win, Brenlie Peacock and Laine Walker added important fall points with their wins.
Bixby’s Jadyn Roller finished her spectacular career as the second 4X state champion in Oklahoma Girls Wrestling. Not only is she the second 4X girls state champion, she joined her dad Shane in the 4X state champions club to become the FIRST father-daughter (or son) 4X state champions.
Roller, 38-7 this year, finished with a 135-17 career record. In winning her four state titles, Roller had six falls and one major decision. In her sophomore year, she won in the finals over Harrah’s then freshman, Addie Morse who has gone on to win state title the past two years. Of course, Jadyn’s dramatic last second win in last year’s state finals over Westmoore’s Kyrstan Perez kept her on track to become a 4X state champion. This year, she started off with a tight 1-0 win over Edmond North’s Victorya Cox before recording a fall in the semifinal and sealing title number four with a fall in the finals over Pryor’s up-and-coming star, Ashlyn Masters. Roller was named the OW of the Class 6A Girls Tournament.
Looking to join Roller next year as a 4X state champion is teammate Millie Azlin. Azlin, 28-1 this season, carries a 101-3 career record into her senior year. Azlin, a Fargo national champion last summer, is perfect at the State Tournament, going 9-0 with nine falls in winning her three titles.
Two sophomores won their second state titles to stay on track on becoming 4X state champions. Anadarko’s Lyndi Cisco won her second title with a fall in the finals over Jay’s Iliana Salazar while Putnam City’s Tessalynn Goodner won her second title with a 3-0 win over McAlester’s Emery Turner. Turner had advanced to the finals with a 7-2 win over Edmond North’s state champion Kinslee Collier.
Three freshmen took the first step in becoming 4X champions by winning titles this year. McLoud’s Carli Sisco, Union’s McKenna Wilson and Oologah’s Abaigail Lacy all won titles at the State Tournament.
Hinton’s Dru Turner was named the OW of the Class 5A Girls Tournament. Turner rolled to her second straight state title with three falls to claim the 125 lb. title. The tournament wrapped up a dominant year for Turner as she finished the year 40-0 with 38 falls and tech falls. Turner, 74-0 over the past two years, has a 100-2 career record.
Union’s Azreal Smith finished off an incredible career and senior season in winning the Class 6A 235 lb. state title. Smith was a perfect 21-0 with 21 falls this year, with most coming in the first period and a large number of them well under one minute. Falls this year, include falls in 0:09, 0:12, 0:13, 0:14, 0:15, 0:16, 0:22, 0:25, 0:28, 0:31, and 0:32!
Smith who finished with a 110-2 career record, was a state runner-up as a freshman to Broken Arrow senior Ki’Eisha Cathey, who was ending her career as a 3X state champion (Smith beat Cathey in the regional finals, but Cathey won the state finals rematch). Smith was undefeated her sophomore year but missed the regional tournament. She placed 3rd at state as a junior with a 42-1 record, with an upset loss in the state semifinals her only loss of the year. Smith made sure that didn’t happen this year as she never went into the second period and wrestled a total of 3:29 in winning all three matches by fall to end her career as a state champion.
Bixby’s Aiyana Perkins was another one with an outstanding career that had to wait until her senior year to claim a state title. As a sophomore Perkins was runner-up to Choctaw’s Peyton Hand as Hand made history as Oklahoma’s first 4X girls state champion. Last year, wrestling for Union, Perkins lost a heart-breaker when Bixby’s Brissa Bernal escaped at the buzzer in the ultimate tie-breaker to give Bernal the title.
Perkins capped her senior year with a 6-5 win over Broken Arrow freshman Kyah Leyba to win the Class 6A 125 lb. state title. Perkins finished the year with a 36-2 record and a career record of 108-17.
Girls Wrestling continues to grow at a tremendous rate and not only is the sport growing, but the talent level is growing at an even faster pace. An example of the ever-growing strength of girls wrestling in Oklahoma is the fact that 10 past state champions were unable to repeat in this year’s State Tournament. It is most certainly not a knock on them but recognition of the vast improvement and deep talent pool in Oklahoma.
Nine schools crowned their first girls state champions as Blanchard, Piedmont, Tecumseh, McLoud, Cordell, Cache, Catoosa, Skiatook and Oologah all had individual state champions to join the growing list of teams with state champions.
Blanchard’s Lynn Horn had won a Fargo national title, but had been denied in the state finals the previous two years. Horn closed her career with a 12-1 major decision win over Broken Arrow’s Tiffany Breshears to win the Class 6A 130 lb. title. Horn, 29-1 on the year, finished with an 85-4 career record.
Piedmont junior Makaylee Cannon became Piedmont’s first state placer last year and improved on that to become Piedmont’s first state champion this year. Cannon, 43-3 on the year, won in the finals with a last-second takedown over Edmond North’s Ezmerelda Fuller.
Tecumseh senior Vivian Hayes ended her career with a 10-6 win over freshman Feliciti Doolittle from Douglass to claim the Class 5A 105 lb. title and become Tecumseh first state champion. Doolittle was the second state placer for Douglass and their first state finalist.
Carli Sisco won the Class 5A 100 lb. title to become McLoud’s first state champion and was joined just a few matches later by teammate Launa Troutt, who won the 115 lb. title.
Last year as a freshman, Baylor Moore became Cordell’s first state placer and this year she moved up the podium, winning the Class 5A 120 lb. title with a fall in 5:45 over Plainview’s Jolee Thomas.
Shiann Famero became Cache’s first state champion when she won the Class 5A 130 lb. state title with a fall in the finals over defending state champion Josaline Blevins from Stilwell. Famero finished the year with a 38-2 record and a 95-15 career record.
Catoosa’s Frankie West also had to beat a returning state champion to win her state title. West had three falls in the tournament, including a fall in the finals over Caddo state champion Gage Vaughn to win the 135 lb. title and finish her senior year with a 30-1 season record.
Skiatook junior Maggie Beaird placed 3rd at the regional tournament, but avenged her regional loss with a semifinal win over regional champion and 2024 state runner-up Adrianna Chronister from Stilwell. In the finals, Beaird defeat West Regional champion Addison Adams from McLoud to claim the 140 lb. title and become Skiatook’s first state champion.
Freshman Abagail Lacy became the first state champion for Oologah when she won the Class 5A 235 lb. title with a fall over returning state champion Chloe Vawter from Little Axe.
