Two national champions, 17 other All-Americans, and a 3rd place team finish highlighted Team Oklahoma’s performance at the prestigious US Marine Corps 16U and Junior National Wrestling Tournament, recognized as the largest wrestling tournament in the world.
The renowned tournament, better known as “Fargo” took place July 10-18, in the FargoDome in Fargo, ND. July 10-12 was the Junior and 16U Boys Freestyle Tournament with July 13 being a day of rest. The Junior and 16U Boys Greco Tournament ran July 14-15, with the Girls Junior and 16U Freestyle Tournament taking place July 16-18.
Cason Craft and Bryar Hooks each brought home the coveted “stop sign” as a Fargo national champion with Craft capturing his title at 113 lbs. in the Junior Greco division, and Hooks winning the 16U Freestyle division at 138 lbs.
Craft rolled into the finals with five straight tech falls, outscoring his five opponents, 44-2. Craft claimed his second Fargo title with an 8-2 win over Niko Odiotti from Illinois. Craft also placed 3rd in the freestyle tournament to finish a spectacular week of wrestling with a 12-1 record with 10 tech falls.
It was a huge week for Craft as the Greco title and 3rd place freestyle finish now gives him eight All-American finishes. The eight All-American honors makes him the most decorated wrestler from Oklahoma for most medals won at Fargo. Jason Powell (six titles), Justin Breeden, Kyle Crutchmer, and Leo Bailey each won seven Fargo medals. Craft, also a Greco champion in 2024, and double All-American in 2023 and 2024, has earned three All-American finishes in Greco and five All-American finishes in Freestyle.
Bryar Hooks, who went 7-0 in the rugged tournament, opened his tournament with three straight tech falls (outscoring his opponents, 33-1) before pinning Te’Jon Beals from Illinois in 1:06 (Beals had advanced with a win over the 2nd seed). Hooks had tough battles the rest of the way, but was up to the task, picking up a 6-5 quarterfinal win over California’s Julian Holguin, and a 9-4 semifinal win over California’s Raymond Castillo. Hooks wrapped up the title with a 5-3 win over Washington’s Austin Schield.
Isaiah Jones and Lucas Franklin joined Craft in battling through the best in the nation to earn double All-Americans honors. Jones earned a runner-up finish in Greco and 8th place finish in Freestyle. Jones, also a double All-American in 2023, ended his career as a 5X All-American with three finalists finishes. Competing in the 16U division, Franklin went 11-3 for the week with five falls and five tech falls to place 3rd in Greco and 5th in Freestyle to become the first Fargo All-American from Coalgate.
In the Junior Greco Tournament, Team Oklahoma had six All-Americans to earn a 3rd place team finish. They placed three in the finals with Craft winning the title and Jones and Legend Ellis earning runner-up finishes. Also earning All-American honors were Dimitri Kizer (5th), Garrison Sartain (7th), and Preston Scott (7th). It was Team Oklahoma’s fourth straight year to finish in the Top Five.
In addition to Craft and Jones, other All-Americans in the Junior Freestyle division were runner-up Cache Williams, Van Smith (5th), Turner Ross (7th), and Jake Miller (8th). Smith’s 5th place finish was his third Fargo All-American finish, including winning a Greco title last year. It was the fourth All-American finish for Ross, who won a freestyle title last year. Miller, who was forced to medical forfeit his last two matches, earned his fifth Fargo All-American finish. Miller was a double All-American in 2023.
Joining Hooks and Franklin as 16U All-Americans were Rosco Lewis (6th in freestyle), Westin Pollock (8th in freestyle), Drake Sheffield (7th in Greco), and Marcel Hawkins (8th in Greco).
How big is the tournament? Over 8,400 wrestlers competed, with wrestling taking place on 30 MATS! The Junior Girls division and the total number of girls entered set new record for the number of participants. The Junior Boy’s freestyle brackets at 126, 132, and 138 had 151 wrestlers in each bracket. 13 of the 15 Junior Boy’s brackets had at least 100 entries. The largest 16U bracket was freestyle 113 lbs., which had 144 wrestlers.

Oklahoma was well represented with a total of 199 wrestlers competing in the tournament, including 128 boys and 71 girls. Most of the boys doubled up competing in both the freestyle and Greco tournaments with 41 Juniors competing in both tournaments and 45 16U competing in both tournaments.

Officials were John Noel, RJ Walker, and Cooper Cox.
