This Sunday Southlake Carroll and the Texas High School Wrestling Coaches Association hosted the first-ever “Red River Rivalry” dual between All-Star teams from Texas and Oklahoma.
On the boys’ side, Team Oklahoma came in as fairly solid favorites and showed why.
Braden Potts started things off with a high-scoring overtime win over Aidan Medina at 125. Kaden Smith followed that up with a decision over Trebor Moreno before Cole Bennett tied the dual back up for Texas with a 1:54 fall over J.P. Martinez.
From there, it was pretty much all Oklahoma. Reese Davis and Bam West both picked up major decisions which were followed by a 10-5 decision for Drake Acklin which put team Oklahoma up 17-6. Bonus point wins for Jaxon Randall and Garrett Wells put things out of reach for Texas and even though they won at 197 and received a forfeit at 285, Oklahoma walked away with a fairly comfortable win.
