Steven Moore Announced as New Ponca City Wrestling Coach

As Justin Roland transitions to the head football coach’s position at Ponca City, the school has announced a new boys’ wrestling coach.

Pending board approval, Steven Moore has been named the new head boys wrestling coach for Ponca City Public Schools. He has served as the head wrestling coach for Cleveland Public Schools since 2022. He has also owned his own business, Moore Pipeline Services, in Pawhuska since 2008.

Prior to being hired in Cleveland, Steven served as assistant coach for Pawhuska Public Schools from 2019-2022 and as a volunteer assistant at Oklahoma Wesleyan University in Bartlesville.

He graduated from Pawhuska Public Schools in 2001 and attended Lindenwood University on a wrestling scholarship. He was a four-time state placer, All-State selection in wrestling, member of two state runner-up team titles while competing, a member of the 2002 NAIA National Championship team and assistant coach of Dual State runner-up champions in 2006.

In 2023 he served as team coach for Team Oklahoma of the 14U National Team and as events director in 2024 for USAOK for all state events.

Steven quoted Lyndon B. Johnson and said, “Yesterday is not ours to recover, but tomorrow is ours to win or lose.”

No official word on who will be replacing Moore at Cleveland.
