The Cowboys have Troy Spratley, Daton Fix, and Dustin Plott into tomorrow’s quarterfinals while Jordan Williams, Teague Travis, Izzak Olejnik, and Konner Doucet still alive in consolations.

125lbs: #6 Troy Spratley

  • Champ. Round 1: #6 Troy Spratley Dec. #27 Max Gallagher (6-0)
  • Champ. Round 2: #6 Troy Spratley Dec. #11 Cooper Flynn (VT) (8-1)

Next Match: Quarterfinals – #3 Drake Ayala (Iowa)

Spratley won a tough stylistic matchup against a very game Cooper Flynn to advance to the quarterfinals. Spratley scored a takedown in the first period with short time before putting on a tough ride in the second. He scored a quick escape and a late takedown to clinch the win. His next match comes against Ayala, who beat him in overtime in the dual. Ayala has had a strong tournament so far, with a major over #30 Eli Griffin and a tech over #14 Nico Provo.

133lbs: #1 Daton Fix

  • Champ. Round 1: #1 Daton Fix Tech #33 Dyson Dunham (VMI) (17-1 7:00)
  • Champ. Round 2: #1 Daton Fix Dec. #16 Nic Bouzakis (OHST) (5-4)

Next Match: Quarterfinals – #8 Evan Frost (ISU)

Many had the second round match against Nic Bouzakis highlighted as a dangerous match against Fix and it showed here early. Bouzakis nearly scored a takedown early in the period, to the point that it was reviewed by the refs. Later Bouzakis went big with a bodylock attempt and was close but Fix countered with an inside trip for a takedown of his own. In the third period Bouzakis kept attacking and managed to score a takedown, but Fix wrestled smart and avoided danger. He’ll next get Frost for the third time this season, who did make the match closer in the Big 12 finals but Fix is the heavy favorite.

141lbs: #10 Tagen Jamison – DNP

  • Champ. Round 1: #23 Danny Fongaro (IND) Dec. #10 Tagen Jamison (9-8)
  • Cons. Round 1: #7 Cael Happel (UNI) Dec. #10 Tagen Jamison (4-2)

I was very high on Jamison coming in and really thought he had a shot at the podium but a surprising 0-2 finish ended his promising first season. His match with Happel looked similar to their other two, with Jamison being unable to finish while…
