The 2nd Supergirl 64 Tournament was loaded with talent from Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas and Missouri as wrestlers from 42 schools battled for All-American honors in the NFHS sanctioned event. Held at Tulsa Union, returning Kansas Class 6A state runner-up Garden City had seven wrestles place in the top four to win the prestigious title by 90 points over 2nd place Union, with Arkansas Class 5A state champion Searcy in 3rd place.
With the bright lights turned on for the finals, each finalists entered the arena on the red carpet with their personally selected walk-out music and after some intense wrestling, 14 champions were crowned, with each champion receiving impressive custom made championship belts.
The finals started with a great match as El Reno freshman Remy Whitney took on Jay’s 3rd place state medalist Angela Lee. Both wrestlers advanced to the finals with all falls, including a big semifinal fall for Lee when she pinned Westmoore state champion Kyrain Perez.
Lee came out on top of a wild scramble for the first takedown, but Whitney dominated after that on her way to a 21-4 tech fall win. Whitney scored a reversal, two takedowns and four sets of near fall points, including an almost unstoppable Merkle to win the title. Whitney was named lower weights Outstanding Wrestler for her efforts.

Westmoore state runner-up Kyrstan Perez dominated everyone in going 6-0 with six falls to win the 105 title. In the finals, Perez faced Shawnee freshman Silver Belvin. Belvin, an up and coming star in only her second year of wrestling advanced to the finals with a tech fall and four falls, including a semifinal fall over Moore’s state runner-up Kylee Smith.
In the finals, Perez was in control from the beginning, scoring the opening takedown 19 seconds into the match, using a bar and wing to score two sets of near fall points to lead 10-0 after one period. Perez scored a 2nd period takedown and once again used the bar and wing again to get the fall in 3:03 and claim her championship belt.



At 120 lbs., McKenna Wilson won the first of three titles for Union as she roared into the finals with five straight first period falls. Wilson had falls in 0:38, 0:45, 0:28, and a semifinal fall in 1:16 over Bentonville West’s Isabella Easterling. Easterling went undefeated in winning a state title last year.

Wilson used a first period takedown, 2nd period takedown and reversal and a dominant 3rd period ride to claim the 120 lb. title with an 8-2 win over Garden City’s Julissa Rodriguez.
Hinton undefeated state champion Dru Turner rolled into the finals with four falls out of her five wins. In the finals, she faced a dangerous Teyanna Fields from Lawton. Turner hit a powerful double leg nine seconds into the match for the first takedown and added a nice single leg takedown midway through the 1st period.

Turner countered strong headlock attempts by Fields in the final two periods to claim the title with a 15-4 major decision win. Turner was named Outstanding Wrestler of the Middle Weight for her domination during the tournament.
