All Time Record: 146-27-10 Oklahoma State
To finish out the regular season Oklahoma State and Oklahoma will meet again in the second Bedlam of the year. OSU has fallen eight spots in the rankings after losing AJ Ferrari, and OU has fallen out of the rankings. Oklahoma State won the first dual 31-3, with the heavyweight match being OU’s lone win. There has been significant ranking and lineup changes for both teams since the first meeting however. Oklahoma State is coming off a win over Bucknell, but Wyatt Sheets and Travis Wittlake both appeared to suffer injuries in losses and could be at risk of missing this dual. While neither team is at the same level they were early in the season, a strong win here could give either team some momentum to finish the season and headed into Big 12’s.
125lbs: #7 Trevor Mastrogiovanni (14-1) vs #32 Joey Prata (13-5)
Mastrogiovanni has rebounded since his first loss of the season with three wins in a row while Prata is on a five-win streak. Prata also beat Kysen Terukina in a tight 6-5 match, who beat Mastrogiovanni 2-1. Mastrogiovanni has struggled with some injuries this season, and his past three matches have been tight compared to what you would expect. The last match between these two came down to a 6-4 decision in favor of Mastrogiovanni. If he was healthy, I would go with him, but Prata looks like he is stepping it up at this point while Mastrogiovanni has struggled. The last match saw Mastrogiovanni win scrambles to score, and I think Prata might be more prepared this time. Mastrogiovanni has also shown a lot of issues from the bottom position lately. I’ll take Prata getting a big upset against a possibly still not 100% Mastrogiovanni.
Prediction: Prata Dec. Mastrogiovanni 6-3 (OSU 0 OU 3)
