The number 2 Harrah Panthers and number 3 Mcloud Redskins squared off in a dual Thursday in Mcloud. The dual was great, the gym was electric.
The Mcloud and Harrah communities have both embraced their girls wrestling teams. There were a lot of people that showed up tonight for the dual.
This is a huge rivalry and these two schools always bring it when they compete in any sport against each other. I just love the way that small towns support their hometown programs. Mcloud showed up and kept the dual close all night.
Unfortunately for the Redskins had 3 forfeits in the upper weights and ended up on the short end 45-36. With giving away 18 points to the Panthers the Redskins knew going into the match that they would have to wrestle lights out to pull off the victory.
The Redskins scrapped all night and with a little luck could have pulled off a win tonight. I’m looking forward to the upcoming Mcloud duals to see a possible rematch!
The Redskins and Panthers would put on quite a show. Lyric Golden the freshman for Harrah won a hard fought match. Golden actually tied the match with a escape with 30 seconds in the third period. The girls went into OT and Golden got in on a double and exposed Duroys back and actually got the rare O.T. pin to give Harrah a 6-0 lead. Addie Morse the State runner-up at 100 last year made quick work of her opponent to put the Panthers up 12-0.
Bridgette Bailey got the scoring started with a slick pass by. Bailey would run several cross face cradle cradles and pick up the late first period fall to cut the lead to 12-6….
