Payton Thomas and Talon McCollom win Preseason National Titles as Six Other Oklahomans Place

The Brian Keck Memorial Preseason National Tournament took place this weekend in Iowa. The event was split into two divisions, 9th-10th grade and 11th-12th grade.

A number of Oklahoman’s competed here and eight walked away with All-American finishes and two with National Titles.

Going into Saturday night there were four Oklahomans with a shot at the title. Zane Donley, who was a Fargo champ this summer was taking on Keyan Hernandez of Montana at 106. Talon McCollom had Henry Reilly of Nebraska, Bam West had Michael Bobola of Massachusetts, and Payton Thomas had Connor Havill of Ohio.

McCollom came knocked off Reilly 5-3 and Thomas beat Havill 4-1.

9-10th Grade Division

7th Place Match – Marshall Geckler (Ohio) won by decision over Miles Velasquez (Team Tulsa Wrestling Club) (Dec 8-2)

1st Place Match – Talon McCollom (Husky Wrestling Club-OK) won by decision over Henry Reilly (Powerhouse Wrestling Club-NE) (Dec 5-3)

11-12th Grade Division

113 pounds
7th Place Match – Aden Sanders (Oklahoma) won by decision over Zion Mares (Pueblo County Wrestling Club) (Dec 3-0)

132 pounds
5th Place Match – Kaden Smith (Tough N Technical Wrestling Club (TNTWC)) won by decision over Mason Sells (Blackman High School Wrestling) (Dec 2-0)

1st Place Match – Michael Bobola (Massachusetts) won by decision over Bam West (Oklahoma Regional Training Center) (Dec 4-3)
