OU Wrestling: OU Adds Four Transfers to Wrestling Roster

NORMAN – University of Oklahoma head wrestling coach Roger Kish announced the addition of four transfer athletes to the program’s 2024-25 roster Monday. Cleveland Belton, Carter Schubert, Gaven Sax and Bradley Hill have signed with the Sooners. 

The group of transfers will join 14 incoming freshmen that make up Kish’s first full recruiting class since being hired as Oklahoma’s head coach. The 2024 class is rated No. 3 overall in the country, according to Intermat’s final rankings released earlier this summer.  

CLEVELAND BELTON / OREGON STATE AND ARIZONA STATE / CORONA, CALIF. / 133 POUNDS 

  • Oregon State University
    • Finished 2023-24 season with a 20-9 record, including winning nine of last 11 bouts in regular season  
    • Took runner-up at Pac-12 Championships 
    • Qualified for second consecutive NCAA Championships 
    • Four wins over ranked foes in regular season 
    • Undefeated (4-0) against Pac-12 opposition in regular season 
    • Went 18-10 in first season competing for OSU in 2022-23 
    • Won first 11 decisions in a Beaver singlet 
    • Clinched Pac-12 141-pound title with a fall  
    • Defeated four ranked opponents 
  • Arizona State University
    • Went 0-2 in 2021-22 
    • Went 3-2 at 61 kg at the United World Wrestling Juniors Event in Omaha, Neb. (Nov. 2020) 
    • Redshirted in 2019-20 
  • St. John Bosco High School (California)
    • Two-time CIF state champion at 132 pounds 
    • Tabbed as the No. 12 prospect by FloWrestling 
    • Named the Press-Telegram’s All-area Wrestler of the Year in 2018 
    • Was the top wrestler at 132 pounds in California

    • Competed in four duals at 157/165 pounds in 2023-24 for the Lancers as a true freshman 
    • Recorded a 3-1 dual record with wins over Wyoming, Northern Colorado, and CSUB 
  • Wyoming Seminary College Prep School (Pennsylvania)
    • 3x NYSPHSAA State Medalist 
    • 2021 Journeyman State Champion 
    • 2021 Ironman Placer 
    • 2021 Beast of the East Medalist

  • North Dakota State University
    • Compiled an overall record of 20-7 (10-7 against ranked opponents) as a junior in 2023-24 
    • Reached the blood round of the NCAA Championships where he was selected as a No. 14 seed in the 174-pound bracket 
    • Earned automatic qualification for nationals after a runner-up finish at the Big 12 Championships 
    • Took third overall at the 2024 Southern Scuffle 
    • Finished 2022-23 season with a 12-12 record as a sophomore  
    • Took second overall at the Bison Open  
    • Named to the NWCA Scholar All-America team and Academic All-Big 12 First Team  
    • Completed freshman campaign with an overall record of 17-12 in 2021-22 
    • Competed at 149 pounds and recorded a seventh-place finish at the Big 12 Championships 
    • Claimed the Cobber Invitational title  
    • Placed fourth at the 2022 Southern Scuffle

BRADLEY HILL / IOWA / BETTENDORF, IOWA / 197 POUNDS 

  • University of Iowa
    • Posted a 21-9 record at heavyweight with a 7-3 dual record 
    • 30 dual points scored overall with a 4-1 conference dual record 
    • Finished fifth at the Big Ten Championships and was an NCAA qualifier 
    • Tallied 13 bonus-point wins, including six major decisions, four technical falls and three pins 
    • Opened the NCAA Tournament with a win over eighth-seeded Owen Trephan (NC State)

  • Bettendorf High School (Iowa)
    • Posted a 138-28 record during his prep career, including going 31-0 as a junior and 46-2 as a senior… had 80 career pins 
    • Fargo and Northern Plains Champion as a senior 
    • 220-pound state champion as a junior, 195 state runner-up as senior, placed sixth as a junior… state qualifier as a freshman 
    • Team MVP as a junior… Bettendorf High School Athlete of the Year as a senior 
    • Ranked No. 87 on MatScouts’ 2022 Big Board 
    • All-state linebacker in football
