OU Leads The Team Race After Day One At The Big 12 Tournament

OU packaged together a great day at the Big 12 tournament on Saturday. The Sooners still have nine in the tournament still and currently lead the team race by ten.

Throughout the day, OU wrestled well. Anthony Madrigal came in unseeded at 133 and after pulling upset after upset, he found himself in the finals and destined for a matchup with Daton Fix on Saturday night.

Dom Demas did Dom Demas things and made the finals at 141 while Mitch Moore also made the finals at 149.

Still with three in the finals, late Saturday it looked as though it was a race between Wyoming and Oklahoma State for the team title. Then OU went on a run. At 165 Troy Mantanona picked up his third fall of the tournament, which was followed by his brother Anthony picking up one as well. Almost simultaneously on another mat, Darrien Roberts picks up a fall at 184, which is followed shortly after by a tech for Jake Woodley at 197.

OU has tough finals matchups, but with the most wrestlers still left in the field, and a current ten point lead, OU has the ability to hang on and bring home the team title.
