OSU vs Columbia Recap: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

#13 Oklahoma State 23 over Columbia 12

Oklahoma State went on the road for their third dual in a row and came out with another win. Now on a three win streak, the team is having solid results but some of the individual results feel very lacking. Everyone knows that OSU is the most successful wrestling team in college history, so they are always bringing their best against the Cowboys. However this is back to back weeks that saw upsets against them and closer decisions than expected. With that, here’s a new type of article I’m calling “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly”.

The Good

Getting wins on the road can be tough, especially as the team literally went from one coast to another in a single week. Travel makes weight cuts tougher and can throw wrestlers off at times. So getting wins on the road is important, even if they are against lower ranked or unranked opponents.

The team also won seven of the matches, and three of those came against ranked opponents. Fix, Gfeller, and Plott all got decision wins over lower ranked opponents. Surber got a tech fall, and looks to be adjusting well to the weight as his offense has really picked up lately.
