Oklahoma Wrestling Shines at Inaugural OWRTC Club Duals

The  OW Regional Training Center hosted the 1st Annual OWRTC Club duals on Saturday May 25th.  The Club Duals brought in 7 teams this year. 6 Oklahoma teams and 1 team from Kansas.

The competition was very competitive on Saturday morning with having 7 teams tournament officials decided to run a 7 team round robin on the 3 full size competition mats. 72 girls on the teams that were put together all got great mat time.

Almost every competitor got 6 matches. For the girls that were not able to wrestle in each dual at there respective weight, each dual they were offered the opportunity to bump up a weight and wrestle a exhibition after each individual dual was over.

Wrestling started at 9am sharp and on time. Things ran smoothly and got done at 1:15 in the afternoon. 6 matches in 5 hours, that’s unheard of around here this year! The competition had World Team members, Fargo National Champions, Fargo All-Americans, Regional Champions, and State Champions. Each of the duals were competitive and teams were evenly matched. Most of the duals were close and competitive until the very end.  Edmond Norths Blue team was built from the ground up. Each of the girls on the team will in the near future wear the Blue and Grey for the Huskies!

This looks to be a start of a great annual event and with the states support this dual tournament can be a great event to get the boys and girls matches before regionals, 14u, cadet and Jr Duals. I’m looking forward to the growth of this tournament and can’t wait till next year! Congratulations to the OWRTC on a great ran first tournament. I am really excited about this new OW RTC at Oklahoma City University.
