Oklahoma State Secures Decisive Victory in High-Stakes NC State Dual

#11 Oklahoma State over #7 NC State (22-12)

The Cowboys traveled on the road and had a statement win, taking out top ten NC State. They won eight matches, including two big upsets. Daton Fix had a slower match against Wyoming but looked unstoppable here in majoring All-American Kai Orine. Teague Travis had one of the bigger upsets of the weekend, taking out Ed Scott in a great match. This was one of the better duals of the season as almost every match had plenty of action. The team has now started 2024 with a bang, and have a week before their duals with Pittsburgh and West Virginia.

125: #20 Troy Spratley Dec. #17 Jakob Camacho (7-3)

The dual kicked off nicely, as Spratley got a signature win over Camacho. Spratley was aggressive, scoring two takedowns and getting in on legs repeatedly. While Spratley has shown some issues from bottom this season it wasn’t an issue here as he scored a quick escape in the third. While Camacho is on a rough streak, it was still an impressive win and Spratley looked more like what I expected at the start of the year.

133: #3 Daton Fix Maj. #5 Kai Orine (11-3)

The last time these two wrestled was in 2022, where it was a tighter 7-4 decision and Orine finished in the round of 16. Orine looked to take a big jump in 2023 where he won ACC’s and made the podium. With his jump it seemed like this match could be close again, but Fix was dominant. He scored two takedowns early and another in the third to get the major while Orine didn’t seem to be able to come close to scoring. There’s a clear top tier at 133, and Fix seems to be clearly in the top….
