Wow. It was a night that saw the #3 Oklahoma State Cowboys wrap up 3rd place in the NCAA Tournament, two Cowboys get crowned champions (one in the biggest upset in 55 years) and four other Cowboy All-Americans. All in all, it was an excellent tournament for the Pokes, and they would have finished 2nd if wasn’t for Nebraska just wrestling out of their minds and putting up upset after upset. Let’s see how it all went down for the Pokes on Day 2 and 3 in Philadelphia.

125: (7) Troy Spratley met up with (2) Matt Ramos (Purdue) in the Quarterfinals, and as I predicted it was a close one. Spratley got a takedown with 20 seconds left in the first period, which ended up being the difference in the match, propelling him to the Semis where he faced (3) Eddie Ventresca (Virginia Tech).Spratley and Ventresca wrestled pretty cautiously and went all the way to rideouts where after a quick escape by Ventresca, Spratley had to put on a sprint and was able to get a takedown to win it and make it to the Saturday night finals against (4) Vincent Robinson (North Carolina St.) Out of the three OSU finalists, I said this was easily our best shot at a win, but boy was I wrong. This match was a snoozefest, with both wrestlers not doing much of anything, but to be fair Spratley at least tried a few shots but Robinson was constantly backing up. Robinson escaped easily in rideouts and Troy couldn’t get it done. If Troy had as much energy as he did trying to take him down in rideouts in the previous nine minutes, I think he would have won. It was an unfortunate start for the Cowboys, however a 2ndplace finish was still an overall great result for Spratley. TEAM POINTS: 17.5

133: No Qualifier

141: On Friday (7) Tagen Jamison easily handled (24) Jason Miranda (Stanford) with a pin in his first round on the backside then took out (18) Julian Tagg (S. Dakota St.) with a 17-2 tech fall. His third match of the day was against (4) Josh Koderhandt (Navy) and something just looked off. Jamison didn’t really even get close to scoring, which is weird for him and lost 4-1 giving up a TD in OT which ended his season a win short of All-American. Hard not to be a little disappointed by this finish for Jamison, as I thought he had a chance to do much better. TEAM POINTS: 5.5
