  • Jadyn Roller and Gerald "Boogie" Harris III became 4X state champions in wrestling.
  • Roller is the second 4X girls state champion and the first father-daughter duo in the 4X state champions club.
  • Roller had a thrilling journey to her 4X state championships, including close matches and impressive finishes.
  • Harris started his road to 4X state champion as a freshman and maintained success throughout his high school career.
  • Both wrestlers received high praise from their coaches and are positive influences on and off the mat.

Add two more names to the record book as Bixby’s Jadyn Roller and Cascia Hall’s Gerald “Boogie” Harris III ended their illustrious careers as 4X state champions.  Roller became the second 4X state champion in the Girls State Tournament, while Harris is the 49th 4X state champion in the Boys State Tournament.

To become a 4X state champion, obviously requires great skill, but the wrestlers must also avoid injuries and illness, stay motivated and keep improving to hold off the immense talent in Oklahoma.  In 2022, there were 12 freshmen who won state titles.  Four years later, only five were able to finish the difficult task of becoming a 4X state champion. In addition to Roller and Harris, Tuttle’s Beau Hickman, Blackwell’s Kruz Goff and Stillwater’s LaDarion Lockett also became 4X state champions.

Not only is Jadyn Roller the second 4X girls state champion, she joined her dad Shane in the 4X state champions club to become the FIRST father-daughter (or son) 4X state champions.

Bixby’s Jadyn Roller started her journey to being a 4X state champion by winning the 100 lb. state title in her freshman year.  Roller opened the tournament with a fall and moved to the finals with a 4-0 win over Durant’s Addison Polk.  Roller won the title with a 6-4 win over Poteau’s Ashley Johnson (Johnson ended her career as 1X state champion and 3X placer).  Roller finished the year with a 17-2 record.

In her sophomore year, Roller repeated as the 100 lb. state champion. Jadyn opened the tournament with an 11-1 major decision over Durant’s Addison Polk and advanced the finals with a fall over Stillwater’s Abbie Rivero (Rivero would win a state title the next year and be a finalist in 2025).  The finals match with Harrah freshman, Addie Morse was a tight one, as Roller got a penalty point and escape in the final five seconds to win the thriller by a 2-0 score (Now a junior, Morse has won state titles the past two years).  Roller ended the season with a 36-4 record.

Talk about thrilling finishes.  It will be hard to top Roller’s fantastic finish to win state title number three in her junior year. Roller lost 5-1 in the regional finals to Westmoore’s Kyrstan Perez and faced Perez in the state finals.  Roller had advanced to the finals with two straight falls to set up a rematch with Perez.

The match was scoreless after two periods, and Perez took a 3-0 lead when she nearly pinned Roller midway through the final period, but Roller didn’t quit and fought out of the extremely tight half-nelson.  Perez looked to be in control as they went off the mat with just seconds left on the clock.  On the restart, Roller immediately stood up and turned into Perez, hitting a gator roll, getting the reversal and winning near fall points at the buzzer to take the unbelievable win and keep her dreams of being a 4X state champion alive.  Roller finished the year with a 45-5 record.
