Tulsa Union and Bixby make a statement on the national scene, Little Axe did the same in Oklahoma, and a record number of participants competed at the Wrestle Like A Girl Cache Invitational. And that’s just a few of the highlights from recent action in Oklahoma girls wrestling.
Broken Arrow continued a strong early season, winning the 35 team Wrestle Like A Girl Cache Invitational. Little Axe had a huge week, beating Edmond North in a dual and then winning the Wilburton Lady Digger Classic. McLoud won the 89er City Showdown in Lexington, Shawnee won the Tinker Coe Memorial Tournament in Henryetta, and Owasso won the Owasso Dual Tournament.
Before recapping the tournament action, a great dual to watch Tuesday night, will be the finals of the Harrah Dual Tournament between Little Axe and Harrah. Harrah is ranked number two in Class 5A and 5th ranked Little Axe shocked many with the win over Edmond North. The dual starts at 6:00 and takes place at the Harrah Old Gym (20370 Elm Street).
WALSH WOMEN’S IRONMAN TOURNAMENT
Tulsa Union and a Bixby team of three girls traveled to Cuyahoga Falls, OH to compete in the Inaugural Walsh Women’s Ironman Tournament. They did more than compete as Tulsa Union had one champion, a runner-up and five other placers to earn an impressive 2nd place team finish. Bixby’s three girl team, all made the finals, crowning two champions and a runner-up to finish an amazing 5th in the 69 team tournament.

WRESTLE LIKE A GIRL CACHE INVITATIONAL
Led by champion Emily Beckley and four other placers, Broken Arrow won the 35-team Wrestle Like A Girl Cache Invitational by 12 points over 2nd place Moore. Broken Arrow recorded nine more falls than Moore and those bonus points were a key factor in Broken Arrow winning the title. In 2022, the tournament drew 62 HS entries and 103 JH entries (165 total). Last year, the numbers were 150 HS and 142 JH (292 total). This year, there were 221 HS wrestlers and 268 JH (489 total)…
