Oklahoma Girls State Tournament Preview

The Girls State Tournament looks be an exciting one with Bixby and Moore the front-runners for the team championship with 14 individual state titles also to be decided this weekend. Led by 3X state champion Peyton Hand (Choctaw), there are ten returning or past state champions in the field with 2X state champion Peighton Mullins (Ft. Gibson), 2022 state champions Jadyn Roller (Bixby), Bella Williams (Edmond North), Khaleah Kirk (Guthrie), Vian teammates Avery Richey and Taya Hunt, Symphony Veloz (Elgin), Kali Hayden (Union) and 2021 state champion Kaylee Davis (El Reno).

The battle for the team championship starts on even grounds between East Regional champion Bixby and West Regional champion Moore. The two teams had almost identical numbers as they both qualified seven wrestlers with three champions, two runner-ups and two other qualifiers (Bixby 3rd and 5th, Moore 4th and 5th). Defending champion Union, didn’t win the regional tournament last year, but put it together to win the state title. This year, Union has two regional champions and three other qualifiers as they attempt to repeat last year’s run….
