Northern Oklahoma College Introduces Wrestling Coaches as it Hosts Blackwell-Tonkawa Dual

On Tuesday night, Blackwell and Tonkawa wrestled at the Foster-Piper Fieldhouse at Northern Oklahoma College as a part of a “Meet the Coaches” night where the college reintroduced their men’s wrestling program that has been dormant since the 1980s and introduced their brand new women’s program. Both will compete in the 2024-2025 wrestling season.

The event consisted of the Junior High and High School duals between Tonkawa and Blackwell, the signing of NOC’s first-ever female wrestler, some giveaways, a meet and greet social with the new coaches, gear sales, and more.

We spoke with the two new coaches, their newest signee Madison Welch, former two-time NJCAA National Champion Karl Lynes, the NOC Athletic Director, and the Interim School President about the event, bringing back wrestling to NOC, and more.
