Big news for the OU lineup and it looks like they’ve found a potential new anchor at 125 for the 2021-2022 season.
Joey Prata, an NCAA qualifier at Virginia Tech in 2020 announced today via Twitter that he will be transferring to OU.
Prata went 5-0 last season in a reserve role behind All-American Sam Latona. He finished third at the ACC tournament in 2020 and went 20-11 on the season.
Prata will be a Senior for OU this season. He was the starter at Va. Tech in 2018-19 and missed the 2017-2018 season due to a knee injury.
He is the second Virginia Tech transfer for OU alongside 149 pound starter Mitch Moore.
OU’s starter at 125 this past season is Mason Naifeh. He is a senior and has not announced publicly if he will use the additional year of eligibility and return next season.
