Wyatt Hendrickson, fresh off his incredible performance in beating the “unbeatable” Gable Steveson to win the 285 lb. title at the NCAA DI Tournament, was the special guest clinician at the Perry Freestyle practice on April 22. Hendrickson showed great technique and was very involved with the wrestlers as they practiced the moves that Hendrickson was teaching them.
The wrestlers were, of course, in awe of Hendrickson but he put them at ease with his friendly, easy going coaching style. Following the practice, Wyatt had everyone’s total attention as he answered questions about his match with Steveson and his strong faith in God.

Following the Q&A, Hendrickson was mobbed by pretty much everyone there, asking for an autograph and/or a picture with Wyatt. The personable Hendrickson, with a huge smile on his face honored every request, staying until every wrestler (and adult) got Hendrickson’s autograph or picture with Wyatt. It was a special evening that all of the wrestlers will fondly recall for many years to come.
