The second ever OSSAA sanctioned girls’ western regional took place this Monday and Tuesday in Noble and OWrestle was there to take it all in.
The Moore girls won their second straight regional title and there were exciting matches up and down the line of finals bouts.

In what could easily be considered the performance of the tournament, freshman Coty Sessions picked up two falls before meeting Choctaw State Champion Peyton Hand in the semifinals. She beat Hand 7-5, to make the finals where she met up with Moore’s Harley Stringer. Stringer and Sessions battled in just an absolutely incredible match that went to overtime to decide the west regional champion. Sessions and Stringer both got takedowns and one escape in regulation to make it 3-3 and send it to overtime. The first overtime session didn’t have any scoring, then in ride-outs, Sessions got a turn when on top and Stringer cut her and went for a takedown, but was unable to score giving a 6-3 win to Sessions. Edmond North’s Bella Williams rolled through 114, and Guthrie’s Khaleah Kirk matched her sister by winning the 120 pound title while Hinton’s Rain Van Tassel dominated 126.

Aubriana Smith recently moved from Stillwater to Westmoore and seems to have made a bit of a jump with that move. She won the 132 pound title avenging a loss to Ciana Grate from Southmoore last week.
