What a way to start the season! #1 vs. #2 and it came down to the last match of the night! Defending state champion Union (ranked #2) took on State runner-up Bixby (ranked #1) and used a fall in the last match to pull out the thrilling 45-36 win.
The dual had it all as Union bolted out to a 33-6 lead before Bixby stormed back to a 36-33 lead with two matches remaining.
Union state champion Kali Hayden won by forfeit to make it 39-36 and a fall by Union’s Jessina Smith set off a huge celebration as Union took the big 45-36 win.
