Marlow Crowned Warrior Duals Champs

Marlow had a tough challenge ahead of it.

The team made the trek to Kansas City, Mo., to participate in the Warrior duals Saturday at St. Pius X High School.

The round-robin dual tournament featured the host team, St. Pius X, who is ranked No. 1 in Class 1 in Missouri; Fort Dodge (Iowa), a team that is an honorable mention in the Fab 50 on MatScouts; and Bentonville and Mexico (Mo.)

No. 2-ranked Cade Gilbert (165 pounds) was one of those who just came back from playing football for the Outlaws and he had an impressive showing on Saturday. He won two matches by fall, one by a 11-3 major decision and a 20-3 tech fall as he was one of five Outlaws to finish 4-0.

“It was fun to come up here and face some new competition,” GIlbert said. “These matches didn’t matter for rankings, it was just to get some mat time….
