Ladd Rupp to Step Down as Perry Wrestling Coach

Perry Head Wrestling Coach Ladd Rupp has announced plans to step down as the head coach of the Perry Wrestling Program. Rupp, who was hired in 2019 from Cushing, announced to the program last week that he will be stepping away from coaching to focus on his young family. Rupp plans to stay in Perry, continue teaching, and assist in building up the youth program that his children participate in. Rupp states that the relationship with the administration, the school, and the community is all very positive and that this was simply just a time he felt he needs to be focused on his family.

Rupp was a four-time state champion at Perry High School and helped lead his team to four consecutive team state championships. He wrestled at Oklahoma State collegiately and had his first coaching stop in Cushing before returning to his hometown. Since 2019, when he came home to Perry, he coached six individual state champions and won four district dual titles. Applications for the new position are expected to open soon.
