Stillwater’s Ladarion(Dee) Lockett added another World Medal to his trophy case at the U20 World Championships in Spain today. Lockett, who won a U17 World title in 2023, fell just short of another title dropping his finals match 3-3 on criteria to Ali Rezaeiaghouzgeleh of Iran.
USA Wrestling breaks down Dee’s final bout below.
“Lockett was leading, 3-1, in the latter stages of the contest after scoring a crisp single leg, plus a shot clock point. Rezaeiaghouzgeleh notched the ultimate match winner with 1:28 to go, converting a counterattack off Lockett’s forward pressure.”
And a recap of the first day and his path to the final.
“After three dominant wins to start the day, Lockett felt his first true test of the tournament from 2023 U17 World bronze medalist Aghanazar Novruzov of Azerbaijan. Each man picked up a shot clock point, Lockett in the first and Novruzov in the second, with the difference in the match coming down to a Lockett step-out point. Add in a failed Novruzov challenge, and Lockett wound up winning, 3-1.”
Dee’s performance helped lead the United States to a team title in the tournament. Lockett has two years of U20 eligibility remaining. Dee spoke with USA Wrestling following the tournament and silver medal finish. You can watch the complete interview at the link below.
