Girls All-State Showcase

Another historic milestone in the meteoric rise of Girls Wrestling in Oklahoma takes place this Saturday as the first ever Oklahoma Girl’s All-State Wrestling Showcase will be held at Tulsa Union High School at 6636 S. Mingo Road.  Spearheaded by the tireless efforts of Union Head Coach Gerald Harris and other hard-working volunteers, the showcase is being hosted by Union Girls Booster Club and Hurricane Wrestling Academy.

The event kicks off at 2:00 with Oklahoma’s own Ainslie Lane hosting a free Girl’s Wrestling Clinic.  Following the clinic, there will be a “Future Stars” dual featuring Oklahoma’s most talented 8th grade and under athletes.  Next up on this special day, two of Oklahoma’s greatest women wrestlers, Joey Miller and Cheyenne Stokes, will be honored.

The day will finish with the featured All-State Dual, with 22 senior wrestlers completing their high school careers in this historic event.  Wrestlers scheduled to compete include Oklahoma’s Tricia Saunders HS Excellence Award recipient, state champion Samara Marquardt (Will Rogers), 3X state champion Ki’Esha Cathey (Broken Arrow), 2020 state champion and 3X state finalist Emma Thompson (Bixby), 2X state placer Addyson Lindsey (Norman), and Moore’s Rylie Osteen.  Cathey will serve as Captain for the Red Team and Lyndsey will serve as the Captain for the Blue Team.  All the competing wrestlers will receive a sports bag, t-shirt, shorts, and commemorative ring as keepsake items for being the first participants in the Girls All-State Showcase.

The Red team will be coached by Hall of Famer Greg Evans and Coach Nicci Harris of Union High School while Ponca City’s Karissa Avallone and Mustang’s Kailyn Ramos will coach the Blue Team.

This event is completely funded by donations.  Please go to HWA918.com to donate and be part of this historic event.
