Thursday was a great night for Girls Wrestling in Oklahoma with OWCA Girls All-State Dual taking place at Union High School. Prior to the dual, the next wave of stars got the night started competing in a Future Stars Dual and then graduating seniors had one more chance to shine in the OWCA All-State Dual.  The West had seven falls out of their nine wins to win the dual 51-21.  More important than the score was for the girls to be recognized for their achievements and have the opportunity to compete in the All-State Dual.  All the wrestlers received an All-State ring, All-State jacket, t-shirt, shorts and gift bag following the dual.

Prior to the dual, OWCA/NWCA Awards were presented with Oklahoma’s first 4X Girls State Champion Peyton Hand of Choctaw being named Wrestler of the Year.  Due to an injury, Hand was unable to compete in the dual, but was there to enjoy the wrestling and share the moment with the other girls.  The list of OWCA/NWCA award winners is listed below.

A special moment in the All-State Dual was Guthrie’s electrifying Khaleah Kirk leaving her shoes on the mat following her win, signifying her retirement from the sport.  Kirk was a 4X state finalist and 2X state champion with a 78-4 career record, including a perfect 40-0 record in her last two seasons.

Outstanding Wrestlers for the All-State Dual were Moore’s Harley Stringer, Guthrie’s Khaleah Kirk, and Jazmin Shelton from Cache.  Gerald Harris coached the East Team with Jimbo Smith coaching the West Team.

In the Future Stars dual, Haven Pohlsander was named the Outstanding Wrestler of the Lower Weights and Parker Martinez was named Outstanding Wrestler of the Upper Weights.  Others competing in the Future Stars dual were: Marleigh Howell, Yetzi Rojas, Kaygen Walton, Chloe Green, Kylee Tran, Raeya Perkins, Jaylyn Lazzerini, Harley Miller, Brynlyn Sullivan, Makenna Wilson, Vicotoria Apgar, Aspen Atkinson, Corey Harris, Alli Taber, Jayda Jones, Jayla Jones, Nayeli Rojas, Kimorah Cathey, Dylan Harris and Zelle Edwards.

Organized by Gerald Harris and Wrestle for Equality, the Future Stars Dual was funded by donations with all the wrestlers receiving a t-shirt and singlet for competing.
