There was some more conference realignment news this week as Colorado announced they’ll be coming back to the Big 12. With that, I thought I’d explore the realignment question the wrestling world is wondering most about. Will OU stay in the Big 12 as a wrestling affiliate? Most know some of the backstory, but OU will be moving to the SEC after this school year. The SEC does not sponsor wrestling, and the current situation is OU will be applying to be an affiliate wrestling program and hopes to stay in the Big 12. Once they’ve applied, the application has to be approved by the Big 12 and its core member university presidents. I thought I’d take a look at five reasons the Big 12 should keep OU in the Big 12 as an affiliate. Let’s dig in.
